Bought The Warden, Anthony Trollope on Kindle. The full, unabridged and annotated version, apparently.

I enjoyed his Pallisers novels many years ago.

Waiting thru Hurricane Ian. It's cold, wet, windy, and wretched. But I'm thankful that so far we haven't lost electricity although at last county, over 200k in my state (South Carolina) and as of 1700 Eastern time it just made landfall at a Cat 1 but it's slow moving.
Â
Hope you haven't been badly affected by the hurricane, Virginia, and you're staying safe. The devastation in Florida is horrifying.

My wife's niece is playing in the World Cup for the U.S. Women's Field Hockey in South Africa. She is in one of the "age groups".

Exciting! Will you be able to follow it as it happens?

I haven't read this Sayers novel but very much enjoyed her later ones. Loved the reasons she gave for Wimsey being rich. I don't remember the anti-Semitism in her books but it certainly grates when you come across it. I gave up on an Edith Wharton novel because it was just so marked.Â

Take Me out To the Ballgame - Jack Norworth (famous American baseball song written in 1908)
Â
(a few of the lyrics)  🙂
Â
Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack,
I don't care if I never get back,
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,
At the old ball game."Â
I know this song, it was sung on a children's TV show, I think. Barney and Friends perhaps? 🤔

Starting One Pair of Hands by Monica Dickens, an autobiographical account of her time as a cook working for the upper classes in 1930. Having been a reluctant debutante and kicked out of acting school, she embarks on this job with no real experience. Sounds like it's going to be amusing.

i went to a mandala drawing workshop last night, it was a very basic intro to this, you could either draw your own mandala from scratch, or fill in a template provided. I went for the template, and apart from confirming that I don't have an artistic bone in my body, I quite enjoyed it and did find it relaxing, despite being in a room in a fairly noisy pub with music playing, a baby crying and a dog whining (a gorgeous beagle who I met on the way out). I think it's best to call my effort experimental, but I played around with a lot of different shapes and suffice to say some shapes worked better than others, so I will have another go, using the more successful shapes.
Â
I've also sent off for a couple of Diamond Art kits, has anyone done any of these? They look fun but fiddly.....
Â
I haven't tried diamond art or mandala drawing but I went to a zentangle group a few years ago. Found them very relaxing and fun to draw.

I was re-watching Indiana Jones and the Temple Of Doom on Sunday as it was on TV - admittedly I prefer Raiders Of The Lost Ark or The Last Crusade but was fun to watch, still love the mine cart chase and the bridge scene at the end, plus it's quite dark atmosphere and story (better than Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull anyway) 🤣
Â
We watched a couple of these again recently, too. Always fun ... the snake pit though! 😱

Slow Rivers ~ Elton John
(Elton said at an Australian concert that this song reminded him of NZ. I don't think he meant it as a compliment 🤣)

We won't hold it against you, Muggle 😉 After all, you were the game's original originator 😊
