Rain, rain, and more rain here. Doors and drawers ( the cupboard variety 🤭) are starting to stick and ants are invading.

We did Lord of the Flies at school which I found shocking but fairly boring. Overall I liked 1984 but do remember also finding it a bit boring when I read it a few years ago, and I can imagine I would have found it ten times as boring if I had read it at school! I really don't think they choose the right books to get kids interested in reading, books like these require thought and reflection that most teenagers just aren't interested in (no shade intended, I certainly didn't appreciate these things when I was that age!)
I think I was unusual in that I was happy to read any book for homework, it really didn't feel like school work at all. I know other kids absolutely hated many of our set books though, and I agree they probably weren't the best choices. We studied them in the 6th form, I guess teachers thought (probably erroneously) we were capable of a bit of mature analysis by that stage.

We watched this a while ago. Quite shocking.

We studied Brave New World and 1984 at school, but it's all a complete blur now (not surprising really, I often finish a book and can't really remember much the next day 😏).
Not a huge fan of dystopian novels although loved One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, both book and film.
We also studied Lord of the Flies at school, which I remember parts of vividly. Found it very disturbing.
Our English teacher must have been big on this kind of book because we read Animal Farm as well.

Do any of you recognize this artist:
Gale Garnett
If not, do you remember hearing this song and lyrics:
We'll sing in the Sunshine
We'll sing in the sunshine
We'll laugh every day
We'll sing in the sunshine
And I'll be on my wayWe'll Sing in the Sunshine has been in my head for 2 days now.Yes, I remember that one, Muggle 😊
One of our local artists, Bunny Walters, did a version of it as well.

If you look closely I'll bet there are at least 16 of the ones listed that you all know.
For example: The Highwaymen - Michael (Row the Boat Ashore. Hallelujah!
Probably remember them all if I heard them, songs tended to stick around a lot longer than they do nowadays. I recognise at least 11 😊

I don't remember these when they were first released (bit young 😋 ) but I do remember several of them from later.
Interesting that Carole King wrote the music for 'Will You Love Me Tomorrow' sung by the Shirelles in 1960 and then later recorded herself singing it in 1971.

I had a big clear out of books some time ago. Got rid of old had-it books, ones I'd never read again and ones I'd never read. I read almost entirely on my tablet now but have kept my favourites. I had no problem downsizing my library( donated them to charity stores) but I wish I could be a bit more ruthless with all the other stuff I've accumulated over the years. My biggest problem is with sentimental things I’ve been given, find it very difficult to let go of them.
I can totally understand the feeling of freedom it must give you to have minimal possessions.

The strawberries really are delicious.
Growing them in a hanging basket sounds like a good idea.
I don' know what variety these strawberries are as my neighbor has been getting them for me since I am not allowed to drive "YET".
Went to the eye specialist today and am glad I have her as my doctor. Good news, the injection itself did not hurt but my eye was sore afterwards and still is a little. Better news, the Macular Degeneration is now not as bad as in my first examination and she has now said that my next shot can be 8 weeks from now instead of 4.

Fantastic news, Muggle! 🥰 So pleased the macular degeneration has improved, the injection isn't too painful and you have longer before the next one ( I bet it's due to all those strawberries 😉)

The rain has finally stopped and now it's turned cold ... not surprising considering the amount of snow on the nearby mountain ranges!
