  1. (What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding ~ Elvis Costello
  2. Peace Train ~ Cat Stevens
  3. Thanks for the info about Amazon Prime, Pont. I can't praise too highly the help I got from Amazon. Firstly I asked a question on the Amazon Kindle forum and got an almost instant answer. They suggested ringing or going into online chat with someone if their advice didn't work. I then spent a very pleasant 20 mins or so chatting with a most helpful customer support person, who in spite of the fact we'd just bet them that day at cricket, still continued to give simple step by step instructions and didn't hold a grudge at all I'm so used in NZ being put on hold, having to press about a dozen numbers, having to listen to GHASTLY music at deafening decibels, then being suddenly cut off and having to start the whole process all over again, that the Amazon experience was such a pleasant surprise.
  4. The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien This was a re-read as I wanted to read it again before the film comes out. I discovered I'd forgotten most of it so it was like reading a new book. Bilbo Baggins is a delightful character, his pre-occupation with food and home comforts is most endearing, but in spite of this he shows great courage and common sense in the quest to regain treasure that has been stolen by the mighty dragon Smaug. I enjoyed this immensely, and am really looking forward to the movie. Next up is Love In a Cold Climate by Nancy Mitford. I bought this for my Kindle for 99 cents!
  5. I've just bought this for my Kindle and am looking forward to reading it soon.
  6. I can just see them all muttering away together...... ' "Come with me," she said, "I'll take you to Paris," she said, "I'll show you the sights!" she said, and here we are, haven't even seen the light of day!!'
  7. Forgot to mention the inimitable Margaret Mahy, who died recently. Her A Lion In the Meadow is a classic and her writing so imaginative and fun.

  9. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road ~ Elton John
  10. In NZ we can't get library ebooks for the Kindle like you can in the US, and as far as I can understand some of the apps are not available on the Kindle Fire here either. Also Argon, you can only purchase or download books from Amazon. But in saying that, I have just bought a Kindle Touch and apart from it being very slow for browsing on the internet, I am very happy with it. I did have a problem initially but was given step by step instructions from a very helpful online customer support person and after reregistering everything is working fine.
