  1. LOL, then you see what I mean. I have to tell you Michelle, that is why I really enjoy this forum. That sort of 'hammering' simply would not take place here.
  2. If you google James Garner, you'll see he has been around a long time, and done quite a lot. He's always been a particular favorite of mine, only partially because he reminds me very much of my father. We watched All that Jazz last night. Roy Scheider is so good. (Scheider is the one that spoke the famous line in Jaws, "we're gonna need a bigger boat") It's based on the life of choreographer Bob Fosse. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Fosse Hint: Bob Fosse choreographed Cabaret. To mention only one of dozens.
  3. The present is all we have, the trick is to realize that, and act upon it. You're doing it. Yays!!
  4. I have to say, that finally, I did enjoy Night Circus. There was a discussion of it on another forum that really turned bad (IMO). I don't want to debate, I want to discuss and one person was pretty headstrong in their opinion, and demanding. It simply became tiresome to deal with. Janet I see your reviews of I, Coriander and The Girl from the Fiction Department, and really liked them. I'll look into both books, thanks!
  5. I enjoyed Wool, and was glad to see it come out on paper! I already had read the first 5 on Kindle. They are quite enjoyable!
  6. Just finished some black tea.
  7. That is great Eleonora. It feels wonderful!
  8. I looked it up...they played the younger versions of the couple.
  9. OK. Started again on the Atkins diet last Monday. Have lost 5and a half pounds. I'd gained 15 pounds from the end of my diet last year. Gak. I can't fit into some of the clothes I'd bought last year, so hadda start again. Haven't started the treadmill again, mostly due to the tooth problems I've been having. Root canal and all that. But will very soon, this weekend for sure.
  10. Chocolate vodka, on the rocks. But. We bought some new vodka today....glazed donut flavor. Hah. Tastes pretty good. Who'd have thunk it?
  11. rain, rain, rain...............more rain. Supposedly the rumor it's to clear tomorrow. I'll believe it when I see it.
  12. Is The Notebook the one with James Garner and Gena Rowland? re Bridges of MC....I cried like a baby at the end.
  13. I did enjoy the first film of the new Star Trek, however I'm beginning to have some doubts about it. I know everything in it's favor. But. I am of an age that I watched the original series premiere on television as a teenager, and was hooked. This new one seems to be wandering away from Gene Roddenberry's vision. I know, times change, but I don't have to love it. It just isn't the same. I know TOS was hokey in some ways, but it had a spirit that I miss. Not to mention a 35 year old Shatner. lol But really. There is a sameness about this newer version....call me sentimental. This new version is pure J.J. Abrams, not a bad thing in itself, he is a highly talented fellow. It just isn't the same. Yeah, I'll be there to see the next film. But it won't be the same. J.J. did Lost, Alias...two tv shows that I really, really enjoyed. His talent is unquestioned, but it is not Gene Roddenberry's vision. I'm beginning to repeat myself, so this old foggy will depart. For now.
  14. Having a permanent cap put in a tooth that had a root canal two weeks ago. It does feel strange! Have to go back sometime and get a few fillings.
  15. Yes, as a matter of fact I saw the articles about the abdication. Some are wondering if Queen Elizabeth will consider the same now. Hah, doesn't seem likely, but wdik. Book fairs are wonderful. We have one coming up around the middle of May.
  16. Sympathies!! Ahh, yes, the dentist. Know him well. I'll be seeing him later today. /sigh/
  17. LOL That'd be great! Although mine were not Acadian...they were Germans, came over in the first quarter of the 1800's.
  18. It's rained here for a couple of days now. Should last another day or two. gak Although I shouldn't complain, really. It's warm, not freezing.
  19. Thanks, interesting. Chocolate vodka, on the rocks.
  20. You are so, so not alone in this. This looks really, really interesting! Thanks.
  21. Thanks, both of you. They sound like what we simply call 'liquor stores'. Not sure if ours sell snacks or not, I've never been in one, as the grocery stores here all sell all liquor. Well, I have been in one...not sure how local it is though, Martin's Wine Cellar. They specialize in all sorts of wine, although they do sell a certain amount of plain liquor. And snacky stuff, like pates, etc.
  22. Our Man in Havana....Alec Guinness. /sigh/
  23. I'm about half way through All That Is by James Salter. Good stuff.
  24. What are off licences? Pubs that sell bottled liquor?
  25. Absolutely. No distractions. Especially in the beginning. Once you get into the rhythm it's ok. But then you don't want distractions! lol
