Andy had a visit from Glendale coach yesterday to see if he is signing up for next season...signed on the dotted line for another season and he also asked him if he would be keen to do some coaching sessions for them. He said yes! Now panicking over the fact that he will be coaching guys who are same age/older than him! I have every confidence he will manage fine. Has applied for a job as Sports Assistant at local facility. Hope he can get at least an interview!
  10. Picked this one up at charity book sale the other week. I think my friend picked up another in the series, will probably end up swapping them.
  11. I had the same problem last night when I was trying to choose what to read next. Couldn't remember why I had some of them as reading the synopsis on the back of some of them didn't entice me to want to read them!
  12. Posted The Teahouse on Mulberry Street of to a fellow Bookcrossers as a swap for a book she sent me on my wishlist.
  13. So is the 33 read some of the 45 bought, or are they old ones. We have had more books added to our shelves too!
  14. Met up with Kell today...we had a lovely chat

  15. Well we did meet and had a fine blether and catch up...talking books, films, TV, family trees, oh yes and kids of course! Time flew by and then she had to go to pick up Xan from nusery. We hope to not make it so long between meetups. She says Hi to everyone...
  16. Took time out (while resting my leg) to finish 'The Glass Guardian' by Linda Gillard.....lovely read as always. Just starting 'The Lollipop Shoes' by Joanne Harris, one I have been meaning to read in ages.
  17. We have met a few times a few years ago, which is daft as we don't live that far from each other!
  18. 'The Glass Guardian' by Linda Gillard You are always guaranteed and good read when Linda writes and this one didn't disappoint. I wasn't sure about a 'paranormal romance' and how it could possibly work but it did although some of the detail had me thinking it a bit strange, then I remembered it was only fiction! As always there is a mixture of characters, non of them perfect and all have their history. Ruth with her recent grief to contend with and finding herself the owner of her Aunt Janet's huge old house on Skye (I would love to visit it). Although on her own she senses another presence in the house. Ruth develops a relationship with 'Heckie' and finds out their connection through the 'glass'. Tom an old friend from her past, it would appear wants more than just to be her friend (he annoyed me a little, not sure why), but has his own demons from the past to deal with. Stan, the Canadian who wants to pursue the music of her Aunt Janet and write a book. Can she be bothered with trying to help with this, when she is so taken with 'Heckie' and wants the house and him all to herself? But it is 'Heckie' who she becomes obsessed with. How can she fall in love with a ghost from 100 years ago? I liked all the themes of love, grief, friendships and a touch of music and family history. The whole story is brought tidily to a conclusion (with a wee bit of a twist)and I wasn't disappointed with it. My favourite character was undoubtedly the handsome 'Heckie'. I always like how the heroine in Linda's writing is a little bit older! Also that each of her books are different and if you haven't ready any of them urge you to go find another one to read. (I think my favourite is still Emotional Geology.) Although I have to say there always seems to be snow and sometimes Christmas mentioned. As with Linda's other books you are swept away with the surroundings described in such detail you wish you were there. I always love the Scottishness about them (and makes me proud to be Scottish). I am always left wanting to find and visit where I have just read about. I really do/should visit Skye. 5/5
  19. We have spoken about this for ages and ages and finally via Facebook we have set a date, time and place...hope we have a good old natter over a cuppa and books.

So the final results are in and Andy and Glendale are safe from relegation thanks to a draw yesterday from rivals. Saved by 2pts and finished on 30 and 3rd bottom although close results were had from other teams. Bottom 2 go down. Boots away for the summer (kind off, no doubt still be some sort or training at times). He has now signed up for summer league footie with some of his mates, so that should keep him fit. Have a good summer break everyone.
  23. We saw it in 3D and enjoyed it. Liked the references of wit from the original 70's series. Makes us want to watch them all over again.
  24. Football Raith Rovers (my hometown team) Glendale Amateurs (my eldest son plays for them) Scotland (yeh I know!) Tennis Team Murray
  25. So glad you enjoyed Still Alice, one of my favourite, if emotional reads last year.
