  1. I too have done various things over the years. I was very active on the PTA at school when the boys were at Primary. When they moved to secondary I was on the tea rota for parents evenings, school shows etc. I also help organise and run Cycling Proficiency at their primary school for P6/7 pupils and prepared them to take their test (in all weathers I have to say). I volunteer on a Monday afternoon at the local playgroup that my boys went too. Started doing this on a regular basis about 5yrs ago and it can be a lot of fun, ages ranging from 2 1/2 - nearly 5yr old.
  2. Read a bit of 'The Glass Guardian' this morning and registered 6 of my book sale stash from last week on Bookcrossing.
  3. Well deserved by the looks of it Kay...that shop looks lovely.

Some of Glendale members past and present. Andy is in the front row 4th from the left white shirt and stripey tie. Alex, front row red kilt is his assistant coach at with his U'15's team and were thrilled when he was awarded the 'young player of the year' (something Andy won two years in a row ). Results of the league will be decided on Saturday....you try and work it out....lol. 1st Touch Football Division One (North) Feughside v Ellon Amateurs at Feughside – W Smith Halliburton v Rothie Rovers at Lawsondale – C Christie Lads Club Amateurs v Kaimhill United at Lads Club, Woodside – D Forbes Rattrays XI v Bervie Caley at Heathryfold – S Duff ------------------------------------------ Link to current table. 7. 'The Abortionist's Daughter' by Elizabeth Hyde Review here Another one that had lounged on the shelf for a while...bit of a dull read.
  8. 'The Abortionist's Daughter' by Elizabeth Hyde Megan gets a phone call to say her mother is dead having been found face done in their swimming pool. Diana was Director of the Center for Reproductive Choice, who had made many enemies given her title and where she worked. Detective Huck Berlin investigates and it becomes clear he has a murder on his hands. The day in question reveals that there were several people who had quarrelled with Diana. There are a few twists along with relationships exposed that weren't/aren't what they would appear. I can't be overly enthusiastic about the book, it wasn't badly written, and the title would appear controvertial and it was a bit graphic at times. The characters were ordinary and I did find the whole book a bit dull and boring. I did guess right as to 'who did it', although it could have been others. I couldn't make up my mind if that was a good thing or not though. 2/5

Well Andy and Glendale did the deed on Saturday, although the total outcome of the league isn't quite settled, but they came from 2-0 down and then beat the league leaders 4-2 in absolutely appalling conditions. Heavy rain and the pitch was getting worse by the minute. The ref came over with 5 mins go and at the stage he was going to abandon the game, fortunately it went off a bit and they got the fixture fulfilled. They were well chuffed. Celebration later on too as we were at their 40th year of the club dinner/ceilidh. Good night had by all.

  20. So my friend and I went along to the Christian Aid book sale at Queen's Cross Church and I came home with a haul of 8 books. They have this sale bi-annually, all for £9.60. I took a wish list with me so I could look for specifics but found only one, but another that I had on my list here. There could may well be another trip there tomorrow as I think hubby and Kenny will be wanting to go down for a browse too. 'Rough Music' by Patrick Gale '16 Lighthouse Road' by Debbie Macomber 'The Girl Who Couldn't Smile' by Shane Dunphy 'The Bay at Midnight' by Diane Chamberlain (not the one on my list but author was) 'The Kashmir Shawl' by Rosie Thomas (which my friend recommended when I found it) 'Constance' by Rosie Thomas (hoorah, this one was on my list) 'Lone Wolf' by Jodi PIcoult (on my wishlist here but forgot to put on my list to go, glad I found it) 'House Rules' by Jodi PIcoult

What a great result for your end of season....you have had a good one. Can't believe that is it for a while again...hope next season goes as well for you and you don't lose any of your players. Andy and Glendale lost 4-2 today to a team of numpties with a 'bairn' playing for them, or it seemed like it, moaning every five minutes. Eventually got booked but should have been sent of apparently, he brought one of our guys down and then claimed he didn't touch him but he clearly did, happened right in front of us. Then is takes of his shirt and moans and walks away, called back booked and still moaned. We didn't see the whole game as per normal and we missed Glendale's pen...and yes you guessed it Andy took it and put it comfortably away. It was his '50th' goal...typical we weren't there in time, but having said that he scores when we aren't around. It will be their last game of the season next Saturday and a home game too to round it off. Be great if they could pull of a win but it is against the league leaders. Hopefully teams below them can help sort out places in the league before next weekend, so they are out of the relegation zone. At the moment 3pts clear of trouble. Also celebrating their '40th' year anniversary, having a bit of a do Saturday night, dinner, speeches and ceilidh after. Should hopefully be a good night.
