  1. We could compile an easy to see list. Inver
  2. Just watched the link.....he is still lovely and still has that certain something.....sigh:smile2:. Wish I had gone to see Aspects of Love when it was up here in Aberdeen.
  3. Remember I dragged hubby (before we were married) along to see him in concert back in the late 70's early 80's. Was probably bored but I loved it/him;)
  4. Bought this one recently and added to the tbr pile.
  5. I have about 5 on the go, but trying to concentrate on two as they are bookrings (via Bookcrossing) and need to get them finished and passed on to the next in line. Too many books not enought time (well I would have more if I wasn't on here chatting to you lot....lol)
  6. How sad.... used have posters of him plastered all over my bedroom wall when I was a teenager and had all his records.
  7. First line reads 'When all is said and done, killing my mother came easily' Harrowing read at times, but what is about Alice Sebold and her writing that you just have to get to the end, despite not necessarily liking the subject matter/book. I did find it jumped about a bit with the past and present storyline, but was necessary for the plot to understand the characters and their past. Without giving too much away I found the ending a bit disappointing. Anyone else read this one?
  8. 'The Almost Moon' by Alice Sebold Not my favourite one but joined a bookring to read it.
  9. Thought I had read one...Blackthorn Winter was the title. Can't remember much about it, but was probably enjoyable enough.
  10. Sounds good. What else has she written...the name sounds familiar?
  11. Hello and welcome I'm sure you will enjoy it on this site. Everyone is very friendly and loves to read obviously. Happy reading and posting.
  12. Anyone who has read any of her books will love this one. Elner has a fall from a tree while collecting figs, it then transpires that she has died!!! Or has she? Has she really had a trip to heaven? Amusing and touching well worth a read. The news spreads of her death and there follows the story and how it affects everyone who knew/knows her. Very likeable characters and easily read book. Recommend.
  13. 'Can't Wait to Get to Heaven ' by Fannie Flagg Anyone who has read any of her books will love this one. Elner has a fall from a tree while collecting figs, it then transpires that she has died!!! Or has she? Amusing and touching well worth a read. The news spreads of her death and there follows the story and how it affects everyone who knew/knows her.
  14. 'Elissa's Castle' (Transita) by Juliet Greenwood Boring! Thank goodness it was on a bookring and doesn't have to lounge around on my bookshelf....yawn!
  15. Loved MSK and also Plain Truth. Have a few others on my shelf but can't get a chance to read them, due to joining bookrings/rays via bookcrossing. Think I read both of them via there though.
  16. Have read a few, but can't remember which ones except 'The Rector's Wife'. Was that not made into something for the telly! I do like her though.
  17. Can't remember much about it, but like Kell am sure I read it for English at schooll. Obviously didn't make much of an impression!!
  18. My sis is reading this at the moment and was finding it difficult to get into but now she is enjoying it.....maybe I should warn her about getting the tissues ready for the end:roll: One I will know doubt be borrowing.
  19. I just received this book recently in a box of books that arrived unexpectedly. Glad it is having good reviews on here as I was wondering what it was like, didn't really look like my kind of book, but might give it a go now.
  20. 'A Friend of the Family by Titia Sutherland Easy read relationship type story. It was a trial separation, and for Kate it hadn't really worked - she still loved Matt, and she was lonely. If it hadn't been for a friend of the family she didn't think she could have coped.
  21. Yeh...the full price put me off too for such a thin book. Why don't you do a bookring/chain for it and share it with others!!
  22. Inver

    Signs!

Yeh...that bit did make me laugh...think Mel nearly laughed too...he should have joined them....lol.
  23. Recommend this one. Blurb. 'Shattered by a recent bereavement, Minna and husband Tom retreat to an isolated village on the Dorset coast, seeking the solitude that will allow them to cope with their loss and rebuild their foundering marriage. Walking on the beach one day, they unearth a human skeleton. It is a discovery which will plunge Minna into a mystery which will consume her for months to come. The remains are soon identified as those of Private Lew Campbell, a black American GI who, it seems, drowned during a wartime exercise in the area half a century before.Growing increasingly preoccupied with the dead soldier's fate, Minna befriends a melancholy elderly woman, Felix, who lived in the village during the war. As Minna coaxes Felix's story from her, it becomes clear that the old woman knows more about the dead GI than she initially let on. "Playing with the Moon" is an unforgettable novel about memory and loss, about the legacy of war, and the need to reconcile ourselves to our past in order to live with the present.
  24. 'Toppling Miss April' by Adrienne Dines (Transita) 'Playing with the Moon' by Eliza Graham (both bookcrossing bookrings) Gave up with 'Miss April' characters were irritating me, was a bit of a comedy, but just wasn't in the mood for reading that time of book. 'Playing with the Moon' is well worth reading. Intriguing story that starts off with a skeleton being found on a beach!
  25. Just been watching it on the telly......Kenny and I sat on and off towards the end....was good though. Anybody else watch it? Thought I had seen it but turns out I hadn't...was nice to sit and ogle Mel Gibson again....sigh:smile2:
