  1. Hello Mary Lou - The Everley Brothers I promise no more Johnny Ace comments from me after this one 😊 (In November 1954, Ace ranked No. 16 on the Billboard 1954 Disk Jockey Poll for R&B Favorite Artists.[11] In December 1954, he was named the Most Programmed Artist of 1954, according to the results of a national poll of disc jockeys conducted by the U.S. trade weekly Cash Box.[12] Ace's recordings sold very well during those times. Early in 1955, Duke Records announced that three of his 1954 recordings, along with Thornton's "Hound Dog", had sold more than 1,750,000 copies. "Pledging My Love"[18] was a posthumous R&B number 1 hit for ten weeks beginning February 12, 1955. As Billboard bluntly put it, Ace's death "created one of the biggest demands for a record that has occurred since the death of Hank Williams just over two years ago."[ "Pledging My Love" was used in the 1973 film Mean Streets, directed by Martin Scorsese; the 1983 film Christine, directed by John Carpenter; the 1985 film Back to the Future, directed by Robert Zemeckis; and the 1992 film Bad Lieutenant, directed by Abel Ferrara. The Teen Queens' song "Eddie My Love", originally entitled "Johnny My Love", was written in memory of Ace.)
  2. Hello Darlin' - Conway Twitty (A number of artists recorded the song including Elvis Presley and Teresa Brewer. Johnny Ace though was the original singer of the song, and the best. There is a tragic story of Johnny Ace.)
  3. Melanie of "Brand New Key" fame at age 76.
  4. Pledging My Love (Forever My Darling) - Johnny Ace (This is a song from 1954. I loved the song when it was released and still love it. James Lee Burke, one of my favorite book authors, says that when he hears the song the hair on his arms stands up. Burke wrote a book of short stories and one of the stories is about Johnny Ace) 🙂
  5. I have not read A Walk in the Woods. Will check it out. i love Blanche's description of life in the Blue Ridge Mountains in poetry form.
  6. i am reading this book on my computer which I downloaded from the library. I don't like sitting at my computer to read but the poems are worth it. Amazon.com: Blanche: Poems of a Blue Ridge Woman: 9781952485435: Ledford, Brenda Kay: Books
  7. Blue Suede shoes - Elvis Presley (I owned a pair of Blue Suede Shoes back in the day) 😊
  8. 2. Ruin of Stars - linsey Miller.- 3.5/5 - A fair read.Ii read book #1 of the 2 book series about 2 years ago and at that time the library didn't have book 2. I requested the Library to purchase book 2 and they just now purchased it and I had almost forgot what book #1 was about. Kinda a sci-fi type book.
  9. I think this is absolutely beautiful: "The best way to know life is to love many things." - Vincent van Gogh (art: Naoko Stoop)
  10. If These Walls Could Speak - Glen Campbell (memory sometimes starts to fade with age 😃 ) Remember I played the fiddle for a while, not well though and gave it up. Also, played the mountain dulcimer, still have the Dulcimer but stopped playing it years ago. My Dulcimer is a good one as it was made by Tom Fellenbaum in Black Mountain NC (Blue Ridge Mountains) Tom's Dulcimers are known for their quality. 11. Fourth Wing is a 2 book series by Rebecca Yarros. The second book is Iron Flame (released in November - 2023) and is over 800 (kindle) pages long. I am on hold at the library for it but am #70 on the hold list with the library having 20 copies. I may have to break down and actually purchase the book. 🙂
  12. Hello Walls - Faron Young Try listening to the first 30 seconds of my post of Faded Love for some awesome fiddle music. It was one of the first songs that I played when I was practicing to play fiddle 🙂
  13. Fourth Wing (The Empyrean - Book 1 of 2) - Rebecca Yarros - 4.5/5 - Great reading. Keeps you attention on every paragraph in the book. The book is over 600 pages long on the kindle and I am a slow reader but I zoomed through this book as I could hardly put it down. I would call the book an adult Sci-Fi as there is some sex in the book. Much of the book takes place at the Basgiath War College where only the smartest and strongest 20 year olds are schooled as healers, scribes, infantry or riders. The Riders train and hope that a Dragon will choose them to be its rider. The weak don't survive the training. There is a huge surprise at the very end of the book.
