  1. I went to a friend's place yesterday and a few of us had a go on her karaoke machine. By coincidence, this was one of the songs sung she sang

Do you believe in ESP. :)

I think it is nice that good music endures over the years and is still enjoyed today by some people. Tennessee Waltz was #1 on the charts for 13 consecutive weeks in 1950.

  2. That must have been cool muggle not. I can understand why you were busting to tell! :giggle2:

SO exciting Muggles. Glad it all went smoothly with no dramas. You'll have to tell us some of the tales after your grand-daughter visits.

I was just looking at some of the photos of the Obama's dog Bo, he's absolutely gorgeous

It is something that my GD can remember her whole life and tell her children about. We are happy for her.

  3. Only 3 more weeks before my granddaughter visits us on her way back to school. Can't wait to hear the stories she has to tell from her summer job and the people she met. :)

LOL, I can now reveal that my granddaughter actually met Michelle Obama in July. I was told by my GD to keep it a secret, at the time, as the Secret Service was trying to keep the whereabouts of Sasha and Malia a secret. My GD was a camp counselor where the Obama girls spent 4 weeks this summer. Of course I couldn't keep my mouth shut and told Poppy about it when michelle and the girls first arrived at camp.

Today president Obama revealed the girls stay at the camp. Read on:

My GD will be visiting us on Aug. 31 on her way back to college at NYU and we can't wait to hear her stories about camp.

  4. I think Nollaig's, Calily's and muggle not's are great ones.

    Dimitri, a belated thanks.

my signature is in honor of my absolute favorite sports legend and humanitarian:

Roberto Clemente Walker (August 18, 1934 – December 31, 1972) was a Puerto Rican ball player whose Major League career comprised the 18 seasons stretching from 1955 through 1972, all of them played with the Pittsburgh Pirates, primarily as a right fielder. Clemente was awarded the National League (NL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award in 1966. He was on the NL All-Star team 15 times, received 12 Gold Glove Awards, and led the NL in batting average four times. In 1972, Clemente got his 3,000th major league hit.

Off the field, Clemente was involved in charity work in Puerto Rico and other Latin American countries, often delivering baseball equipment and food to those in need. He died in an aviation accident on December 31, 1972, while en route to deliver aid to earthquake victims in Nicaragua. Clemente was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame posthumously in 1973, becoming the first Latin American to be selected and one of only four current Hall of Fame members for whom the mandatory five-year waiting period has been waived.[1][2] Besides being the first Hispanic player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, Clemente is also the first Hispanic to win a World Series as a starter (1960), receive an MVP Award (1966), and receive a World Series MVP Award (1971).

actually, I enjoy all the signatures as each is different and fun to read.

  5. My car radio needs updating as a CD got stuck in the player and now it refuses to work. I will probably get a DAB one that plays my Ipod instead - when I have the money. I need a new pair of glasses first though, and they are a bit more important !

Totally agree, health (glasses) should take priority.

  6. Not something I had ever considered to be honest - I don't listen to the radio that much (mostly BBC Surrey and LBC when I do, occasionally Radio 2), and only in the car, so I couldn't justify the cost of paying for satelite.

Although Satellite radio has all kinds of programs, I mostly listen to music. Since you don't listen to much music I would probably not subscribe either. Now that I think of it most people in England probably aren't in the car long enough to justify Satellite radio. :) We are constantly in the car in the U.S. and frequently drive long distances and Satellite music is very appealing as there is many choices of all kinds of music.

  7. How many of you have Satellite Radio available in your Country, and if you do, how many of you subscribe to it. I have it in both of my cars and would find it difficult to do without now that I've had it for a good while. It is nice to have available almost any type of music that you are in the mood for, not to mention all the other tons of programs.

A sample of the programs that are available on Satellite..............http://www.siriusxm....rogramschedules

  8. Arlo Guthrie's version of City of New orleans is certainly the best of all. However, I also enjoy Willie Nelson's version. City of New Orleans is a great song.

I was listening to a little Cajun music tonight. Rusty and Doug Kershaw singing "Louisiana Man". Love it for a change of venue.

  9. We've just been awarded one more gold medal. :clapping: Valerie Adams, our shot put silver medalist, has received the gold after the Belarussian Nadzeya Ostapchuk was excluded from competition following a positive test for metenolone, an anabolic steroid.

    Congratulations!!

I thought it was a pretty great Olympics.I love most sports and the Olympics are great to see athletes from all over the world compete, win or lose (although I don't think there are many losers, except for those that cheat).
