  1. Its very confusing isn't it?

I don't have a Kindle, but I download kindle books via Amazon of course to my computer or my phone (android) There's a special app you can get ...free. Works a treat. I like reading from my phone, but some people would find the screen too small and too bright.

I have a sony e-reader and it accepts stuff that downloads to my computer, but you have to have the right manager (and drivers). I just downloaded something from kindle or kobo, can't remember which, but will get back to you on that.

My friend has just bought a Kindle and is wondering why he didn't buy one before. I must admit I fancy a kobo or Kindle, as my sony is one of the early ones...but will have to wait a bit.

  2. My mum is interested in getting one, so we were looking at them yesterday. Amazon.co.uk has some really good prices on best sellers at the moment- as long as that lasts, it's looking more attractive.

Hi Michelle...if you haven't already you might like to consider my earlier post (8). It really is easy and you don't have the expense of the Kindle, but you have to have the right kind of mobile device to support the app. However, more and more folk will be buying android phones, so worth consideration.

  3. I have an android phone and recently got the Kindle app. Brilliant! I can download my favorite books, fiction, non fiction, whatever and read them on my phone. I love it. It works the same as Kindle, with the whyspersinc, but you don't need a Kindle. I am reading Elizabeth Gaskell's Mary Barton this week, having read 'Wives and Daughters' last week. These are available free, but I have also bought patterns and other smaller bits and pieces. Because I already have an Amazon account, I just buy or order with one click! It's great. I also have a sony reader, but the phone is more convenient because you have it with you all the time!!

  4. Hiya everyone. Its good to be back. I'm pleased to see all the 'old' names, as well as lots of new ones too. Michelle and the team are obviously doing a good job.

I kept up with your blog for ages Sarah, but not recently. I could spend all day reading blogs (but that doesn't count does it? lol ) Sorry your mojo has gone awol. You'd think with all this snow around, he'd be happy to stay put in the warm!

Hi Janet and Andrea. Hope you are both well. Its going to take me ages to catch up on all the news!

  5. I might as well start a new log...New Year - New Log and all that :)

I read very few books last year, although I did a lot of reading. Most of it was reference material. I probably only read about a dozen books or so. This year will be different. In 2006 the total was 31. In 2007, the total was 54. This year I am aiming for 75.

Ok, one down and another seventy-four to go. Sounds even worse when you write it out!!

    The list begins with:

    JANUARY

    1) Bog Standard - by Daniel Keane.

    2) Life Interrupted - James NcConnel

    3) Blood in the Water - Gillian Galbraith

    4) Nobut A Lad - Alan Titchmarsh

    5) Careless - Deborah Robertson

    6) Bright Lights and Promises - Pauline McLynn

  6. Of course, providing I can find it. I'll have a look for it tomorrow, and confirm I can get my hands on it. The reason I say that is because we had people in to insulate all the walls of the house, and the backroom, which houses many of our books is jammed and crammed full at the moment, but with a bit of luck it will be in the bedroom. I'll let you know tomorrow (today...later:) )

  7. Just finished 'See Jane Die' and I loved it. Once I got into it I couldn't put it down :friends0: I guessed that it was either one of the two culprits, but never thought it would be both! The descriptions of the boat accident and subsequent dream passages are quite graphic, but that added to it. I shall now look for more of Erica Spinler's work. I think she's written about twenty novels. Thanks for the recommendation. A great choice, and I would also advocate reading it
