I'm staggered, Nellie. You don't live in Somerset do you? There is a book group starting up here in September. It was advertised in the paper as "for details ring x... or just turn up, preferably having read the first book". I'm uhming and ahing as to whether to go along or not - I'm already in one bookworms group.

My husband reads one to two books a year usually (although he's still on the first for 2008 so he'd better get a move on! ). He doesn't resent how much time I read at all.

I've accidentally hit a button on my keyboard and I don't know what it is! At the very top of the keyboard, there are three green lights. One is 'caps lock' and one is 'number lock' and then there is a third one, with a picture that looks like a suitcase with an up-arrow and a down-arrow inside. It's now lit up - I don't think I've ever seen that one lit before. What does it mean, please?

If you're anything like me, you save your WHS Clubcard points up until you have enough to buy a book! However, WHS are discontinuing their Clubcard and instead customers are asked to register online for their Priviledge Club. In future, they will be sending out coupons by email which you print off and take into the store. I've received my 'introductory £20' - they come in the form of four "£5 off when you spend £x on certain items". Current clubcard points can be used up until 29 February after which time, they will expire. Waterstone's for me from then on, methinks...! ETA: It appears that this explanation is unclear. As stated above, points not used will expire. That means that they will cease to exist and therefore you won't be able to use them. In other words - 'spend' your points by 29 February OR LOSE THEM!

I read that this morning and wondered the same. Especially as she talks about buying "other properties"!

Hi Lucy. I live in Somerset - quite close to Bath, but I don't visit very often. I wish I'd come in on 9th and said hi! My question is... if and when you have time to read for pleasure, who are your favourite authors, and do they inspire your writing, or do you like to read different genres from the kind you write?

Some great books there. The Time Traveler's Wife and The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox are both fantastic books, and 'Esme' is a quick read.

Do you read hardbacks then? Or have a gadget to prop the book open? I don't mind ironing - I usually put on a film when I do mine!
