  1. Oh dear - this is the book choice for September in the Bookworms group I belong to! I shall try to read it with an open mind! Is it very long?
  2. No problem of that here! So I see. I'm going to enjoy it here!
  3. I'm a member of another book forum (don't worry, I won't mention it!), but it's part of a bigger forum provided by my ISP provider - it's like 'general chat', for example, in this forum. It moves very slowly - about two new threads per week. I was frustrated on Friday night with the lack of decent discussion, so I put 'book forum' into the Yahoo search facility, and voila! So glad I found it.
  4. It's certainly a strange concept for a book. I think that's probably my favourite so far, of the ones I've read!
  5. Except that I've given it away in my post above. Sorry. Do you have spoiler tags on this forum?
  6. I really enjoyed the book Chocolat, but I didn't like the film at all. I felt they ruined it by changing the central character from the priest into the town's mayor. I thought it lost its meaning somewhat. And why did they feel the need to change Pantoufle into a kangaroo? He was imaginary, and only appeared in the last scene, so why not leave him as he was? (This is only a minor annoyance!). The book was great though. I've also enjoyed Blackberry Wine and Five Quarters of the Orange by Joanne Harris.
  7. This has become my friend's son's favourite book. He's 12, and has read it several times. He hasn't been diagnosed as having autism, but displays some of the symptoms and said he could really relate to Christopher. I loved it. I leant my copy to my Mum and to a different friend's husband, who is a 'non-reader' and they both loved it to. In fact, I've yet to meet anyone who hasn't enjoyed it.
  8. I really enjoyed it too. It was predictable (of course) but charming, and such a nice light read. I've read all of Sophie Kinsella's books - they're all very similar. I've only read one of her writing under her real name - Swimming Pool Sunday - and it was less 'chick-litty' than her books as Sophie Kinsella, but quite a good read, although I don't think I'll be rushing to buy any more!
