I agree - great libraries emelee. The city library looks especially amazing from the outside. Here is Stratford upon Avon's library. We stayed there (Stratford, not the library ) in 2011 but we were so busy we didn't actually find time to go inside, sadly. Isn't it gorgeous!

Hurrah!

I'm currently reading The Tenant of Wildfell Hall on Kindle and I had the same experience as you. I wondered why it suddenly said random things that seemed unconnected to the story - it took me a while to realise it was to do with the missing illustrations!
-
Oooh, how exciting - looks like it's me! Solomons, Natasha – Mr Rosenblum’s List I hope you enjoy it! ETA: What a great idea for choosing when one is stuck for inspiration.
-
Great pics, guys. Chalie, your library looks to be a similar size to the one in the village I grew up in. Kay - your library looks prettyful on the inside but I agree it's not the most attractive building from the outside. I've not been to Swindon library it looks... huge!
-
Plenty of Rush is always a good thing! Well my library thread was a hit. Not. Oh well - you win some, you lose some.

That Mary Poppins cover is gorgeous!

I know you share my feelings, Alex! you could always start it from the point you abandoned it - if you haven't blocked it out of your mind! Yay for another list lover. And thanks - they are rather awesome, aren't they!
-
Yay - another member of the list club! Thanks - I couldn't believe it! I don't know what made me think to look on there when I did - so lucky!
-
I haven't, because they've had discussion about them in here and it will interrupt the flow, but please post them again in the thread I've just started as I'm sure plenty of other people would like to appreciate the beauty of it.

Inspired by some discussion in frankie's book blog, what is your library like? Do you like to visit libraries other than your 'local' one. If you would like to, please post pictures, but do not Hotlink. Instead, please first upload them to somewhere like Photobucket or Flickr (both free) or similar and then use the [ IMG] tags. I love libraries, even though I don't use them as much as I probably should! This one is my local... It's small, and it doesn't open on a Wednesday (or Sunday) - I don't get all my books from here, but I do return them all to this one! This is my next closest... This one only opens Tuesday, Friday and Saturday morning! This one is moving some time this year into a new building. It's a shame, as I think this one is beautiful (lovely windows) but maybe it will open longer hours...? I don't have a picture of Swansea library (in Wales) but I do randomly have one of the view! I couldn't use this library for studying (If I was studying!) - I'd spend all my time gazing out of the window! More to come from me!

I've just ordered this set of Dickens books from The Book People! I will probably read the actual books on my Kindle, but they were so prettyful and only £19.99 (and free postage as I was a new customer) that I just wanted them! I'll take me years to get through them all!
-
Ah good - I'm glad you found someone to go with - I've been to the theatre on my own before, and it's fine, but it's always nice to have some company.
-
Oh wow, that's amazing!I I think I'll start a thread for people to post pictures of libraries in - in the General Book Discussions section - when I get home from work.
-
You'd definitely need to put that one behind spoiler tags! I should think that's fairly standard practice amongst bookie people!
-
Did you find someone to go with? I hope you enjoy it (well, I know you'll enjoy it, but you know what I mean!).
-
Awwwww! It's from the hymn Amazing Grace.
-
I think Kay should take a photo of the latter... whilst sitting on a trapeze! Great photos, Kay.

It is great fun! I hope I would never be patronising enough to pat you on the head and say that though! There must be a name for people who keep lists of people who keep lists! Yes, that’s it exactly! Maybe…! I do have nearly 100 tree books to get through though – plus all the ones I have put on my Kindle! There are definitely some books I would never try again! I know I’ve mentioned it once or twice before, but The Catcher in the Rye definitely falls into that category! It would! I’m sure there is even a desktop wallpaper sized one on the internet somewhere too! I have Mr Darcy as my background picture on my mobile phone! Yes, watch it – it’s brilliant! It was certainly a wonderful trip – I was so excited to go there. It was such a stroke of luck – Peter and I drove past it not realising we were on the road where Lyme Park is – it seemed like destiny!

That's okay - I thought you'd probably missed it. I probably miss replies too - it's easy to do. I know you are a huge fan of the classics - I've detailed below those that I've read but I'm not sure if you'd consider them 'proper' Classics. I hadn't read any classics (apart from some 'modern classics' as categorised by Penguin) until 2007 when I read three - and even then two were children's books (Little Women and 'Huck Finn') - the third being A Christmas Carol (and I know your views on that ). 2008: Pride and Prejudice 2009: The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Turn of the Screw 2010: Three Men in a Boat, Candide, The History of Mr Polly and The Diary of Mr Nobody 2011: Silas Marner, The Mayor of Casterbridge and The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde 2012: Gulliver's Travels, The War of the Worlds, Around the World in Eighty Days And I think that's it. I have actually downloaded a few that I've never heard of! Something will pop up as a recommendation on Amazon and catch my eye. In your opinion, what are the classics that everybody should read?
-
Thanks. I haven't managed to read any of it today. Maybe tomorrow will be a better reading day!
-
I watched it in one go the first time too - I sent Peter and the kids out somewhere for the afternoon! Luckily my daughter has grown to love it too so we watch together. When it first aired I was pregnant with my son and really, really poorly - I was probably feeling too ill to bother with it! I didn't watch it until August 2008 immediately after I'd finished the book! Kylie - the house at Lyme Park (the outside of Pemberley) is interesting and the grounds are gorgeous. I want to see where the inside was filmed, Sudbury Hall. 'THE' Lake at Lyme Park!

TBR Books You Have Been Putting Off Reading
Janet replied to Kylie's topic in General Book Discussions
Okay, I'll bump it up the pile. I had a lovely copy of this, but I fear I might have got rid of it as I can't find it. I've downloaded it onto my Kindle now. -
I have - I love libraries! My favourites (so far) are Bristol Central library and the one at Stratford Upon Avon!
