    Liz's 2008 List

Corbett's autobiography mainly focused upon The Two Ronnies' career but did also briefly cover Corbett's own life as well. It wasn't too bad, the explanations of their writing and filming process being quite interesting. It was an easy and quite enjoyable book. Next...... The Jewel That Was Ours Colin Dexter This is the 9th book in the Morse series.

Hello, Helen. Good to have you join us!
  5. I read this book last year and enjoyed it very much. It's a lovely little story that also makes you think. I would recommend it.
  6. I'm glad you two enjoyed The Prestige as I have that waiting on the shelf. It does look to be rather good. xx

I really did enjoy Dylan's autobiography. It isn't set out like biographies usually are as it did not work its way through his life from childhood onwards. It flicked back and forth over his life. I found the writing style to be slightly odd when I first started reading it as at points it almost felt as though you were simply reading a list, but after a few pages I started to get into it more and enjoy his style. It was good book and I hope he does write the other two volumes (as was originally planned). Next.... And It's Goodnight From Him... Ronnie Corbett I don't feel in the mood for a book which you have to concentrate on, so I thought this would be an easy read.
  9. I was thinking a bit more about this, and I remember learning to read old hardback Noddy books. They belonged to my mother when she was young in the early '50s, so they still have illustrations of Golliwoggs in them.

    Hello

Hello, Lilac. Welcome to the forum!
  11. I remember my mother reading Enid Blyton stories to me. They were the books that had numerous short stories in each book and were usually about fairies or naughty pixies. Those and the Little Miss and Mr Men books were the first books I ever tried to read myself.
  12. Nice one, Gyre! I'd love to give this book a go someday. It seems like it's a great read. xx
  13. NiceguyEddie - Was that the special boxed edition of Making Money? I bought one of those with the gold glitter on the cover. It looks very nice on my shelf.
  14. Why was that, March? Was it because it was non-fiction?

    Signs!

Is this the film about an alien invasion or something similar? If so, then I've seen it a couple of times, once when it came out at the cinema. It wasn't too bad, but I wasn't that impressed with it.
  17. I have a couple of Discworld books which are from a special Unseen University collection. They have lovely looking covers and there are beautiful drawings of maps of the Disc in them.

Interesting Times was quite good, but not the best Discworld book. I did enjoy it, though. Next........ CHRONICLES: VOLUME ONE Bob Dylan I have been meaning to read this book for a while, but kept putting it to one side. I actually had a short excerpt from this book in one of my English Lit papers last summer, not something which I would expect to see in an exam.
  20. National Year of Reading? I must go to Waterstones to celebrate!
  21. The UK episodes on Dave are repeats, but they only really show certain episodes from series 4 (1992) to series 8 (1996). Most of the US ones on FiveUS are repeats as well, but recently they have been showing unseen episodes which are made up of the extra unused games which were not shown in the original episodes (if that makes sense?). I like Whose Line, as well, but I have only been watching it (repeats) for the past few years. My faves are Greg, Ryan, Colin and Paul Merton (and Clive, of course - you've got to love Clive).
  22. Hello, Carly. Welcome to the board! I'm only 17, so don't worry about being younger as you'll fit right in.
