"Subo" refused permission to sing Perfect Day by Lou Reed - forced to cancel performance on America's Got Talent Awwwwwww, diddums! Couldn't she have sung a song she'd performed before? Not very professional to not have a back-up plan. All performers should ALWAYS have an alternate. This just shows her up as the glorified karaoke singer she actually is. And I applaud Lou Reed for denying her permission to sing his song. I wouldn't... want her warbling any material I ever wrote either!

Two of my favourite villains come from the same novel - Les Liaiasons Dangereuses. Valmont and Merteille are both so manipulative and vindictive, completely ruthless and prideful, charming and attractive, intelligent and sly. Although Valmont appears to have a slight change of heart at the end, it could also actually be taken as a last chance for revenge rather than a noble gesture. They are both so perfectly corupt that it's almost impossible not to adore them!

I don't live anywhere near St. Andrews, but I used to live in Kirkcaldy which isn't all that far away really (about 24 miles). Kirkcaldy is (or at least, was) pretty cheap to live in and to drive between there and St. Andrews shouldn't take more than about 45 minutes. Don't know what public transport there is between the two though, or how long it would take. Anstruther is less than 10 miles away and should only take about 15 minutes driving. It's a small place and I don't know the accommodation or public transport deals from there, but I was at a wedding there last summer and it seems very nice. Cupar is also less than 10 miles away, but I've never been there. I hope that at least gives you a starting point for possibilities till someone with a bit more knowledge can give more info.

I heard about this, I would love to see a QL movie, but it would have to be something spectacular and still remain faithful to the original show to keep the fans happy. There's a great little article HERE which pitches two ideas for bringing the show itself back. I rather like pitch #1...

Back around the time of Jane Eyre, the pinafore would most likely have been the kind of tabbard/apron type worn over a regular dress as a school uniform. The pinafore dress didn't really come to the fore until later, I think. I used to wear them when I was a kid - often over jeans!

When I was at college, there was an excellent 2nd-hand books place in the indoor market, which I would frequent on an almost daily basis. There was also a gorgeous little 2nd hand book shop around a corner that I loved to visit. It was tiny, but I could easily spend a couple of hours in there. That said, I would spend an equal amount of time in Ottakers. I'm not so keen on Waterstones and I don't go so often to our local Waterstones as I used to when it was still Ottakers!

1. When I buy grapes, I keep them in the fridge, because, like CaliLily, hey HAVE to be cold before I peel and eat them. 2. I think I'm raising a gourmet - Xan keeps watching (and paying attention to!) I Can Cook on CBeebies and asking me to make whatever they're making. Today it was cheesy tomato puff pastry whirls. They were yummy. I;'m kind of hoping they'll do the cheesecake one again soon... 3. I cannot eat tomatoes (it's a texture thing, but I also hate the taste of raw tomatoes), but love tomato-based sauces and make them from scratch all the time. I have a secret recipe of my own devising for a tomato sauce that is to die for! 4. My favourite drink is an ice-cold glass of water. My second-favourite drink is an ice-cold glass of skimmed milk. 5. Xan's taste in music is very eclectic - his favourite bands/artists are Madness, Lady Gaga, Muse, Shiny Toy Guns, and Simon and Garfunkel!

I love the simplicity of the Around The World In 80 Days by Jules Verne - it's so beautiful!

I count things while I'm eating too - and like you, it has to be in groups of five. It's dreadful when I'm eating peanuts - LOL! And although I adore grapes, I also hate the skin, so I peel 'em!

Doesn't matter to me whether my "bad guy" is male or female, but I like them to be good-looking, charming, manipulative, intelligent and incredibly twisted - they crueller the better! They must really relish the idea of making people suffer! And they must be super-good at getting away with it too.

WHo would have thought so-called professionals could wreck cakes so badly!

I'm the same. I'm more inclined to try and get hold of it just to see what's so bad about it that it got banned in the first place. I'veyet to read a banned book that has shocked or corrupted me in any way.

For my husband, Dale, who doesn't read except to our son, but encouraged me to keep going. And for my son, Xander, who loves books as much as I do - I hope one day you'll read this and be proud.

I've read School For Husbands which was pretty decent (I gave it 7/10). A light,l easy read that was quite entertaining.

I'll be actively encouraging Xan to read the likes of Harry Potter when he's a little older. In fact, I may even read them to him!

Such a shame as these things are great for libraries to have in their reference section, even if few people have the money or inclination to buy them for personal use. I hope they will continue to work on and publish print versions of them though...

I stayed home till I went away to college, but came back for all the holidays during those two years. I came back home for about 6 or 7 months after college, but then moved back to where I'd gone to college for another year and a half. After that, I came home again for another 4 months then moved in with Dale. All the time that I was away, I called home every Sunday night without fail. Once I moved in with Dale, I didn't call every week as we lived within 20 minutes drive of my parents and saw them at least once a week anyway. Once my Mam and Dad split up and Mam moved away, I got back into the calling every Sunday night routine again. I don't call my Dad every week though, as he lives about an hour away and is in town all the time (although I don't see him as much as I'd like to). I've always kept in close touch with my family though - - it just seems natural to me. Oh, and I can walk to my sister's place in about 10 mintues, even pushing the heavy buggy!
