An excellent one to start with if you fancy reading the Death books (he's one of my fave characters). My 1st one was Reaper Man, but I loved it so much I backtracked & ended up collecting them all (they have pride of place on my shelf - mostly hardbacks & many of them are signed).

here's mine, sorry its a bit long-winded!!!!
Not at all - we all love reading at this forum & it's always interesting to hear a little about the places members live. Some of us have been around a bit & it's nice to be able to say "oh, yes - I know a little something about such-&-such-a-place".
Interesting stuff!

Despite being a huge Pratchett fan, I only ever read this book once & it was years ago - it sat on my shelf ever since till I passed it on. It wasn't, in my opinion, one of his better ones. I didn't think much of Strata either, but neither one is indicative of his Discworld series which is excellent (if you can get past the first couple of books which aren't nearly so good - just my own opinion there, others think they're great). THey get better the further on you get & although some of them stand alone, there's often a back-history for the characters involved which means reading them in somme kind of order can help.
If you wanted to try one of the Discworld novels, you could maybe try Moving Pictures or Going Postal - both are stand-alones & very good. Either one should be enough to whet your appetite & get you interested in seeking out the rest of them!

More Armstrong fans *rubs hands in glee*. You're in good company here, lasses - we seem to have quite a few members who are fans of the Women of the Otherworld series.
Can't wait for May - it's too long to have to wait for Broken!

I thought I'd lug the old "to read" list over to here & keep everything in one place:
On My Shelf:
Margaret Atwood - The Robber Bride
David Baddiel- The Secret Purposes
Louis de Berniere - Captain Corelli's Mandolin
William Blain

A lot of very interesting info there, Inanna. And I always have a good giggle over Millennium projects that didn't complete in time - LOL!

Currently about half-way through Labyrinth by Kate Mosse, which I got for Xmas from my Grom. It's a pretty hefty tome, but so far I'm really enjoying it & wishing I had more reading time available right now!
-
Thought I'd join in with the 2006 Reading Log thingie. I have my book blog already, but I thought it'd be nice to keep a brief record here too as I read them.
-
Certainly different - I'm not sure I've ever read anything else even remotely like it...
-
My Sister's Keeper is on my "to read" list - I got it via a swap...

I'm a recent convert to Harry Potter, myself, Inanna. I only started reading them last summer & ended up loving them all (especially No4!). It was pure snobbery that prevented e from reading them esooner!

The Bad Mothers Handbook
I've got this one on my list too & I know a few members have already read it, so it's proving rather popular. I cant wait to get to grips with it!

Update on the new book here.

I think mine goes more like this:
Stolen
Bitten
Dime Store Magic
Industrial Magic
Haunted
But it's very difficult! Seeing as how Broken will go back to the Pack, I'm thinking I'll rank it above the "magic" ones, as surprisingly enough, I prefer the Werewolf ones over the Witchy ones.
-
I don't think I'll be reading it then, as I'm turning the dreaded 20-10 this year. My feckless youth is a think of the past - LOL!
-
Doesn't it just? Roll on May, I say!

Yeah, Colour of Magic isn't one of the better ones, I'll agree. He gets a lot better further in & then gets tremendously good later on again. His most recent ones have been genius (in my opinion). he just keeps getting better & better. But the first few aren't my faves - not by a long shot.

I'd heard that the new family weren't really taken to & the ratings took a dive, but I still can't wait to see it... I want to know what happens with Mike & Zack & Susan in the house, with the gun & all...

It came like a malignant shadow with seductive promises of power. And somewhere in the night... a small girl smiled as her mother burned... asylum inmates slaughtered their attendants... in slimy tunnels once- human creatures gathered. Madness raged as the lights began to fade and humanity was attacked by an ancient, unstoppable evil...
What is it lately with horror books being a major disappointment? Yet again, I finish a book after what seems like an age-long slog only to feel incredibly let down by an author who usually delights me with his mastery of words.
This should have been a better read as it

Crikey, you're right, Andy - it's pretty bleak when you look at it like that!

I think our most recent one was the entire album by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (it was after seeing that Xmas lights to music thing) - it was amazing.
Before that, it was the Gorillaz' latest album & a bunch of random stuff by Rammstein (which has had me screaming "Bang Bang!" at obscure moments ever since - LOL!).

Right, now that they've all been packed off, I can tell you all how the evening went (didn't want them peering over my shoulder the whole time - LOL!).
You all know the main course was my chilli (served with herby baked potatoes & Dale's delicious bread rolls - yum!). The starter was stuffed peppers & dessert was rhubarb cobbler with cream - all absolutely delicious!
We all exchanged gifts & I am now the proud owner of a small wooden box which has a hand-drawn pyrography design on it (a magpie flying in front of a pentagram, which is my emblem of choice - it's just gorgeous!) & a mirror which has 2 panels (one down either side) painted in an art-deco style featuring lilies (my favourite flowers).
And Dale got a small box of hand-made mint fondant cremes & wooden keyring with a Celtic design pyro'd on it, so he's a very happy pixie right now!
I have such talented friends that I'm jealous! It was pointed out (by Dale, no less) that we'd all bought something & then worked our own designs on them for each other to make it personal (so he got brownie points for being a clever-clogs).
So, a lovely evening was had by all & Dale has volunteered to do all the dishes tomorrow so I won't have to face them (more brownie points for him!).
And now I'm shattered, so I'm going to bed with my belly full & my head slightly glowy from the mulled wine (which went down a treat up here in the Frozen North!), so I'll speak to you all in the morning.
Hope you all had a wonderful Solstice!

The guys are all just about to leave, but they wanted to make sure I said "hi" to you all from them before they went - LOL!

I'm now about 2/3rds of the way through Labyrinth & really enjoying it. It's basically a Grail Quest type of tale but I have to say the writing is quite lovely - a really nice flow of words without being too wordy, if you get what I mean. Almost like walking a labyrinth in the reading - perhaps that's intentional (ooh, I must remember that when it comes to writing the review!) - with its winding story, taking you back & forwards across time between two women connected by the same secret...
