  1. Sounds like it'd be right up my street - I'm going to have to try one by this author if she's that scary!
  2. Have done practically no reading at all today as I've either been out & about with Dale (it was a nice day so we went for a wander) or watching movies (The Phantom of the Opera & Superman II). Read a while in the bath, but I'm a bit headachy tonight, so I think I'll leave off it till tomorrow...
  3. I'll probably be doing a bit of wine drinking in a couple of weeks, as my Mam's coming up to visit & we're all going out for a meal, as it's right before my birthday & all. Actually, knowing me, I'll be going for the white wine spritzer - I'll turn into a lager-shandy lightweight at this rate - LOL!
  4. Mugglenot, the blog entry in question can be found here. I'm thinking of doing a meat & potato pie this weekend - i haven't had that in donkeys years!
  5. I read THHG2TG years back & loved it, but somehow I never got round to reading the rest of the series. I really should thouhg, as I loved it. I'm also a mega fan of the radio plays & the TV series. I was a bit miffed with the recent film though.
  6. Moving onto the 2nd in the Rook Trilogy - Vox
  7. These Edge Chronicles are a breeze to read - I'm storming through them all! Finished Midnight Over Sanctaphrax in the bath & it was an excellent conclusion to the Twig Trilogy. Now starting the Rook Trilogy with The Last of the Sky Pirates...
  8. A record for me, I managed to read 2 books in one day - finished Stormchaser a few minutes ago & it was every bit as good as the others have been! Moving onto Midnight Over Sanctaphrax (3rd in the Twig Trilogy) tomorrow...
  9. Ooh, what did you think of the latest Artemis Fowl one? I haven't read it yet, but I'll bet getting it shortly - I'm a big fan of the series.
  10. Ooh, you should read them Michele - they're really good!
  11. Finished Beyond the Deepwoods already, so im moving onto the 2nd in the Twig Trilogy, Stormchaser. If anyone hasn't read The Edge Chronicles, I can heartily recommend them from what I've read so far!
  12. Hope you enjoy Witch Child, Kat. And if you like that one, make sure you get hol dof the sequel, Sorceress - it's just as good, though a completely different style.
  13. The 3rd book in the Quint sequence isn't out yet, so I'm moving on to the 1st book in the Twig sequence which is Beyond the Deepwoods. If it's anywhere near as good as the Quint ones, I'll enjoy it a lot!
  14. Have barely read at all the last two days as I've been so busy. Was out last night & am supposed to be out again this evening, but at the moment, it's looking like I might cancel, as I have had a stonking headache all afternoon. It's easing up a little just now, so I shall see how I feel after dinner. Tomorrow I plan to read almost all day long!
  15. My pastry has always turned out that way in the past, Louise - more like cardboard that anything resembling a foodstuff, but it really worked out well this time for some odd reason. Am feeling very proud of myself & almost ready to attempt baking a cake (which will end in me crossing something off my list of 50 things to do before I'm 50!).
  16. It actually turned out very well indeed, so I'mrather proud ofmyself. For full details, check out my blog...
  17. There are certainly some scruptious scents wafting through from the kitchen. Another 5-10 minutes & the proof will be in the pudding! I took a peek a minute ago & it was certainly looking good. I just hope it TASTES good too! Watch this space...
  18. I've never been a baker. It's all meats & veg & pasta & puds that I can do, but when it comes to baking, I've always been useless. So why is it that I suddenly got it into my head to try & bake an apple & blackberry pie today??? I've just had a nightmare of pastry with flour everywhere. Then I managed to manhandle the top crust into place, only to remember I hadn't added the sugar to the pie & had to take it off again, at which point it fell apart & had to be re-kneeded, re-rolled & re-manhandled on top again. I've just stuck it in the oven now & it should be readdy some time in the next 45 minutes, so I'll let you know how much of a disaster it's been when I taste it. You never know - it might taste alright, even if it looks terrible. I'll get there eventually...
  19. Wideacre by Philippa Gregory arrived this morning, so it's been added to my ever-growing TBR list. Finished The Curse of the Gloamglozer & it was excellent. Now moving onto the sequel: The Winter Knights. I hope this one's as good!
  20. I've got some of those lovely Vistaprint cards too, so I'm going to randomly stick some into books every time I'm in a bookshop...
  21. Percy Jackson was an excellent read - even better than its sequel. I hope there'll be more books in the series as I'll certainly be picking them up! Now, what shall I read next... I think I'll move onto The Curse of the Gloamglozer by Paul Stewart & Chris Riddell. It's the 1st in the Quint Trilogy of The Edge Chronicles.
  22. This is more like it - I'm loving Percy Jackson so far! i've actually read the PJ books in the wrong order as I read the sequel about a month ago & really enjoyed it. It's really nice going back to the first one & seeing how it all started out.
  23. Nah, I'm afraid I've had enough of it already - I've spent all morning slogging through it & I'm just not getting into it at all. The very fact that the book even needs an explanation at the back for all the names is quite off-putting for me. I think I'll just have to step back from this month's reading circle. Ah well, I'll be back on for next month's RC. In the meantime, I have a colossal TBR list to make a dent in...
  24. Yup, I'm afraid Eragon is getting ditched. I've been reading it all morning & I'm just not getting into it at all. Am now moving onto Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief by Rick Riorden.
