  1. I saw the last 20mins or so - very interesting.
  2. I can't read in a moving car or bus - it makes me hurl. But planes and trains are both fine for me. Actually, I've not trued since Xander arrived and pre-baby I used to hurl just sitting in the back seat and I don't any more, so maybe things will have improved...
  3. Cont... The Strangers 2 The small horror hit of earlier this year will be returning to our screens with a follow-up in 2010, with filming set to take place next year. Liv Tyler is likely to return, and Bryan Bertino is hammering out a script again. Harold & Kumar 3 Their recent trip to Guantanamo Bay did wonders for Messrs Harold and Kumar, who brought in enough box office to merit a third film. It
  4. I can't believe there are so many sequels in the works over the next couple of years - and there are bound to be more on the way after those... Kung Fu Panda 2 You

  6. I'm quite chuffed with my progress on my poppy bookmark. I'm almost done with the cross stitching now and after that's done, I've just got to put it all together with the felt backing and the tassle... I've downloaded a couple of patterns for samplers for Xander's nursery too - one an ABC, the other a simple maths one (with ladybugs and toys making up parts of the math equations). I've also downloaded a few patterns for plastic canvas projects that I might like to try. There's a beautiful bridal memento box that I think I'd like to make for my friend before her wedding in September as a little giftie, as well as some very elegant looking Xmas tree baubles that could look stunning in jewel colours! Getting all excited about my craft projects now! How on earth am I going to find time to read books AND do all these?!
  7. Dick and Dom were brilliant! I missed the beginning but I wish I'd seen the Flash Dance - what a pair of pins that lad has on him!
  8. Wholewheat pasta twists in a home-made spicy tomato and basil sauce with mushrooms, smoked pork sausage and feta cheese, served with a green salad of baby spinach leaves, watercress and rocket - delicious!
  9. Ooh, The Skin Gods is supposed to be very good. The only one I've read of those thoughis The Taking, which wasn;t one of my favoruite Koontz novels, although I did enjoy it...
  10. That would be Michael J Fox's Lucky Man: A Memoir, which I can highly recommend - it's excellent (and this coming from someone else who doesn'r read many autobiogs!). I plan to get his next one, Always Looking Up, which is out later this year too. I also loved both of Chrstopher Reeve's autobiographies - Still Me and Nothing is Impossible: Reflections on a New Life. Absolutely inspirational!
  11. One of these days I hope to have the time, patience and talent to complete a major, complex project like those! For the moment, though, I'll be sticking to very small projects in order to keep myself going - if I see progress I'll stick at it!
  12. I've never been a fan of the wizard-based books myself, but the rest of them are great.
  13. I'm still reading it - I'm about 60 chapters in. It's my evening reader because it's too big and heavy to take out and about with me (which is where I've been reading the other books). Loving it so far though!
  14. You could try Green Metropolis - it's free to list your books there...
  15. Yup, fiction that is written in the time in which its set. Jane Austen's novels could actually be classed as such because she set them at the time of writing...
  16. The Winter King was one of our Reading Circle choices a while back. Perhaps you'd like to let us know what you thought of it when you're finished HERE. If you enjoy Roman historical fiction, I can highly recommend Simon Scarrow's Roman Legion series (see HERE for reading order and info).
  17. New Moon by Stephenie Meyer (Twilight Saga 2) Synopsis: For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is more dangerous than Bella ever could have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of an evil vampire but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realise their troubles may just be beginning... My thoughts: Following on from Twilight, I still can't see what makes Bella Swan so special that all the boys are falling over themselves to get to her! This time round, although Edward has absented himself from her life, Mike still waits in the wings and Jacob, although younger than her, still hopes that their friendship will become something more than it is. There was something rather confusing to me, though - Jacob says Bella is smart and will work things out. To me she seemed painfully slow in getting to the point. How can someone who so readily accepted the existence of vampires (before having it confirmed by Edward) be SO slow on the uptake when it comes to the possibility of other supernatural beings? It was very obvious to me from extremely early on what was happening (yes, it's very predictable), so it was agonising watching Bella draw things out at a snail's pace! That said, I still enjoyed this sequel. It's easy and fun to read, and its many flaws somehow make it quirkily appealing. There's enough happening to keep the reader going, even when the pace slows down slightly, and leaves a nice lead-in for the next sequel, Eclipse. Rating: 7/10 Other titles by this author: Twilight Saga - Twilight / Eclipse / Breaking Dawn The Host
  18. Lovely, Nici! Quite a few of us busy cross stitching now then!
  19. Happy birthday!

  20. That's what bothers me too - I can't help but think, "Where's the rest of the story?. Also, what a waste of paper, just having blank pages stuck in there at the end!
  21. I am indeed - I think an ABC sampler would be nice. He'll also get a bookmark, of course! I might do a picture or two as well once I'm back into the swing of things...
  22. Ooh, which mag was it, Pip? I'll have to look out for it!
  23. These are great - keep them coming, folks!
  24. I thought I'd add that there are HEAPS of free designs HERE at Victoria Sampler. There are loads of lovely little projects there.
