I think this is one of a set, and, if I'm right, is many books in! Bernard Cornwall wrote all the Sharpe books and my Dad is a huge fan - he's got all of them in hardbak, in a glass fronted cabinate in the living room! I'll check the series thing for you. Jo xx

Stage musicals I've seen: Cats Joseph & His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat Guys & Dolls Chicago (twice) The Lion King Grease (twice) Bugsy Malone I'm sure I've seen others (I did A-level theatre studies, and being so close to London, I went to the Theatre every 2 weeks) I just can't remember! Films include: Guys and Dolls Bugsy Malone Lion King (if you call in a Musical) Seven Brides for Seven Brothers Chicago Dr Doolittle Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Summer Holiday The Jungle Book Cabaret (not Liza Minelli though) Moulin Rouge Oliver Mary Poppins West Side Story The Wizard of Oz Grease (1 and 2) Plus some others I can't remember! Jo, can you rewrite this slightly so it can be a little 'article' for the main site? (Or, failing that, can I do so for you?) I'd be happy to, it's just a question of time! Jo xx
-
Yes! I'm weird like that, although I did leave a load of books at home when I moved out. Unfortunately, every time I go back I seem to talk another one home with me! Jo xx

. . . was absolutely magnificent! I haven't eaten so much in many years! Roast Pork Roast Goose Beef Casserole Hare Casserole - which I was surprised to really like (I'm not a fan of rabbit) Chilli con Carne All served with piles of veg - roast potatoes, baked potatoes, carrots, brussel sprouts, roast parsnips, mashed swede, my Mum's fabulous red cabbage, and gallons of home made gravy! The most amazing thing about these meals is that they were all cooked for 16 people almost single handedly by my Aunt. I was only there for 3 nights! :eat: Jo xx

Am I the only one with a fussy family?
Acesare* replied to Michelle's topic in Food, Cooking & Recipes
My Brother and I were very fussy eaters as kids - still are! When I lived with my ex, I wouldn't let him cook because I didn't like his cooking - even basic things like spag bol or a pasta bake - I'd go hungry or call a takeaway if I wasn't up to cooking. My main problem (as you've discovered in my reading habits) is that I'm not very adventurous (I'm a right pain to take out for dinner - I'll discard 9/10 restaurants without even looking at the menu!). I also only trust my own cooking, my Mum's, or where I can see what's gone in it, but that's an allergy thing as much as a fussy thing. I'm even fussy about crisps and chocolate! Jo xx -
Christmas dinner will be cooked by my Mum (I don't even have an oven so I'm going home for the holidays!) and will usually go like this: Christmas Eve dinner: Fresh cooked ham (still hot) with chips and veg Christmas Day breakfast: (cooked by Dad!) More ham (cold this time) with smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, toast and bucks fizz Christmas Dinner: (about 5pm Christmas Day) Massive turkey, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, steamed sprouts and carrots, plus cocktail sausages wrapped in bacon, Mum's special sausage meat stuffing and loads of proper gravy followed by Christmas pudding for my Dad and squidgy chocolate sponges for Mum, brother and I (although that's a surprise I'm bringing along) Christmas dinner is my favourite part of Christmas day Jo xx

Ok. The unofficial Stephen King novel guide: Fantasy / Non-Horror Cujo - rabid dog The Stand - apocalyptic masterpiece! The Talisman - co-written with Peter Straub Black House - follow up from The Talisman Misery - a novelist meets his biggest fan. Four Past Midnight - 4 stories including Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption - story of survival and sanity in prison (made into the famous film), Apt Pupil - clever kid gets caught up in something he shouldn't (another film), The Body - 4 boys set off on an adventure that changes their lives (another film - Stand By Me), and The Breathing Method - men telling stories in an exclusive, members only club. Needful Things - Strange things happen after a new shop opens in a small town Gerald's Game - kinky game goes wrong Dolores Claiborne - I seem to remember lots of poo Insomnia - elderly insomniac starts seeing auras and other unusual things Rose Madder - Rose leaves her violent husband and attempts to start a new life for herself, but he's angry and wants her back The Dark Tower Series - parts 1 - 7 and a quest to save existence in a fantasy / western like world The Girl who Loved Tom Gordon - a 10 year old girl struggles to survive alone in the woods Hearts in Atlantis - 4 fantasy stories (as Richard Bachman) Thinner - gypsy curse Boarder Line Books (books I don't consider horror, but are a little bloodier or involve ghosts) Carrie - telekinesis and bullying Dreamcatcher - psychic ability and nasty aliens The Tommyknockers - alien possession The Shining - haunted hotel Bag of Bones - restless spirits (as Richard Bachman) The Regulators - 'special' child causes complete havoc in a suburban street Genuine Horror: Salem's Lot - Vampires IT - kids fight murderous, inhuman monster masquerading as a clown Christine - car possessed From a Buick 8 - freaky car with nasty visitors Desperation - evil spirits, possession, blood, living dead The Dark Half - murdered/murderous pseudonym comes to life I think that'll do. Any questions, just let me know! Jo xx

Eye of the Dragon is a good book although I read it ages ago. Strangely, this is the only King book I have only read once, mainly because I leant it to my Dad and never got it back. No demons or zombies though. Non horror books: Insomnia - weird, fantasy thriller Firestarter - Pyrokinisis (sp) The Dark Tower series - fantasy western type Hearts in Atlantis - 4 stories The Girl who loved Tom Gordon - survival of a wee girl lost in the woods The Green Mile - brilliant book! Avoid: Salem's Lot IT From a Buick 8 Christine I'll go home and look at my collection (I know I have 40+ King books), but I have to go home now! Jo xx

I'm going to have sweet chilli chicken stir-fry with a jacket potato for my din-dins tonight. I'm cheating and using a Sharwoods sauce though - can't be bothered to 'cook properly' on a friday night! Jo xx
-
Not too bad actually, very tired (I probably should have gone home on Saturday night and not crashed on a small sofa) and still a little sore, but back at work and functioning normally. Jo xx
-
You won't believe it - real books to go on my reading list! The Da Vinci Code The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime Heard you guys mention them so often I've borrowed them off a friend and will be digging in in the next day or so (when I've finished my current tome). Jo xx
-
Oh yes. I've read this - good book! Very unusual way of writing a book as most (or all? read this a long time ago) is letters that Raymond has written to his idol. The discription used is brilliant and some of the kids exploits are believably 'laddish'. Read, enjoy. Good Book. Jo xx
