Not a problem Kell. The parcels are normally pretty quick, anyway.

Yep, as a 'story', Forever Odd starts well, and keeps flowing. But, I really enjoyed getting to know the character in Odd Thomas, and how his 'gift' affects him.
-
Unfortunately I gave up on American Gods, as it just didn't grab me.
I'm about half way through Forever Odd.. although it's a good read, it's not as good as Odd Thomas.

What are your experiences of this author? Likes or dislikes?
Having read Weaveworld in the past, and enjoying it, I've been meaning to look out for more. I now have The Hellbound Heart heading my way, and have requested Imajica on 'read it swap it'
What else would you recommend?
-
I've just requested it through the library.. let's see if I can nab it quick! lol

There was so much going on this morning that I had to scroll back up and see what I was lending you!
Don't forget to go to the reading circle and let us know your thoughts on DIG as you go along. Kell and I are waiting so we can join in!
-
I can lend it to you if you want?
-
Ok, I think I might take you up on that! Thank you!
-
So would you recomend that I look for Blindsighted?
-
I printed Beginnings normally, and it was alot of pages. I don't think my little printer does double sized! There was also gaps between lines during conversations, which was annoying.
Anyway, the paper got recycled by the girls, so I no longer have that one.

I've just seen The Island on Amazon, and thought it looked quite good.

Looking through Amazon, there appears to be more Laymon books about than I reaslised. I read a few of them, then got fed up with the recurring gore and sex. As a one-off every now and again, they're quite entertaining, but I'm not sure I'd recommend reading a bunch together!
What were your experiences of him?
-
Where's the best place to start with her books then?
-
For those of you using read it, swap it regularly, don't forget to download the little fliers that Kell made, and put them in the books. That way we may get some more readers here.

I would certainly recommend Dime Store Magic first. Bitten & Stolen are the first 2, but are mainly about different characters. But Industrial Magic would make more sense after Dime Store Magic.

3) Even Cowgirls Get the Blues - Tom Robbins -1/10
Hmm.. you didn;t like that one then?

ooh ooh.. I'm looking forward to getting them now! I loved Beginnings!

http://www.foodtimeline.org/foodpuddings.html#spotted
The first printed evidence of the phrase "spotted dick," as it relates to food, is attributed to Alexis Soyer, the chef of London's illustrious Reform Club, 1849. Why this term? The Oxford English Dictionary confirms an 19th century colloquial use of the word dick' meaning pudding. Spotted is assumed to be alluding to the visual effect created by the raisins or sultanas. This page also mentions roly poly - my nan used to make both a sweet version, and a savoury one with bacon.. both were yummy! She also made her own meat-pudding, which was gorgeous!

No Mau, it doesn't. Goodness knows where the name came from!?
I did have the 'pleasure' of asking Glen if he wanted a spotted dick the other night!
-
You're a :star:

I jumped into Beginnings.. and I LOVED it! I really must get the rest.. although I have a feeling my toner may be running low.
-
Tracey, as I'm too lazy to read back
, have you read any of the others?
-
Sorry, Kell... this one just isn't grabbing me.
