  1. It's been a quiet start to the year - there's been a lot going on, and I've spent most of my time reading my graphic novels. I have quite a few audiobooks which I've started but not finished, Partials was a pretty good YA listen, and I'm about to move on to the second book.
  2. I read the first, and some of the second, a while ago. Then recently I went right back to the beginning, read fairly quickly to the point I'd finished at, and carried on, right to the end of the third. This was once we hit the break of the current TV series, so I didn't get too confused.
  3. Same here Noll - so I tried to sign up again, and it let me. I don't know if it's lost all the old details or something?
  4. I originally really liked Reasons to Stay Alive, because I liked style of the book - it felt like sitting down and having a chat with someone. I think it's always helpful when you listen to someone and start to realise others think and feel the same as you. However, I wasn't very happy with his attitude towards antidepressants, but could overlook it. However, he didn't come across very well on twitter, and I now have quite a negative view of him.. but I couldn't really put my finger on exactly why, or explain why. (Sorry, not helpful!)
  5. Apparently the sorting hat was taken out of Pottermore.com, but has now been put back - and it appears everyone is having a go! So, who's tried, and what house did you end up in? I'm Hufflepuff, which didn't surprise me at all.
  6. I love Wyndham! have just listened to The Kraken Wakes, and I think I'm due a re-read of The Chrysalids soon, as it's one of my favourite books.
  7. Emma - I use the app on my ipod, works beautifully.
  8. Please stop - you three make me jealous of your meet ups!
  9. It's one book per credit, and you can choose 1 or 2 credits per month (offhand, in the UK it's about £7.99 for 1 or £14.99 for 2). They often offer you a chance to buy 3 extra credits, which I think work out at about £5.50 each, plus there are quite a few member only offers. Btw, although I have a banner on the forum for Audible (and I get a small amount of cash if someone uses it) - but my advice comes from using them for years. I get 2 credits a month for myself, and 1 for my daughter, and I have looooads of books now!
  10. Ah no - audible works best on a subscription basis. You pay per month, and each month you get one or two credits (depending on your membership), and each credit can be used for any book. You can stop at any point, and you get to keep the books. Handy hint - after your free book, try to cancel your membership - they usually give you a good offer to try to keep you.
  11. I'm not sure what you mean about Audible.. I've been using it for years! There are sites / apps out there whihc offer free audio books, but these will be older books which are now out of licence, and they will probably be read by volunteers (I'm at work at the moment, so can't go searching). If you find modern books being offered for free, they're probably pirated.
  12. I do love the fact that one of our original threads is still going strong, 10 years on!
  13. Lara, Beautiful Darkness has been recommended to me, and there are lots of positive reviews on amazon. I haven't looked at it yet, as I've requested it from my library, and it's being repaired, so I'm still waiting. So far, Locke and Key is the shortest complete series I've come across.
  14. Yep, they're helping. It's a different type of concentration.. I can get lost in the story arcs and the artwork, without having to get into a book.. if that makes sense?
  15. I think I would have had trouble only reading a little at a time, I love it. It's an expensive way to read, but once I get through the story, I think I'll read again, looking for the details in the art etc.
  16. There are 6 collections - I decided to get the slipcase containing all 6, as it was better value. I got mine from Wordery, where it was £47 plus a 10% discount. https://wordery.com/locke-key-gabriel-rodriguez-9781631401398
  17. Just finished the first Locke & Key storyline, which is written by Joe Hill. It's dark and quite gory in places.. very enjoyable!
  18. Amy has hers playing all night!
  19. Nope, I don't think we need to worry about that this time - more likely to be help for homework. We gave the poster the benefit of the doubt, but she hasn't responded to us, so we'll probably just remove ths soon.
  20. I pretty much only use LT or GR to catalogue my reading. I started using GR more when I was reviewing, because the publishers and authors seemed to like it, but for record keeping I prefer LT.
  21. Abby, Audible are very expensive for a one off purchase, but is not too bad if you use their monthly plan. I use them a lot, as does Amy.
  22. I have some vague recollection of gifting someone a subscription.. but I could be completely wrong! I might go and update my account later, I need some distractions.. did you send any sort of friend request?
  23. I used to be really good at keeping LT updated, but I've slacked off recently.. and I can't remember how the 'friend' thing works on there.
  24. I believe LibrayThing are offering a free lifetime account to anyone who moves their account to them.
  25. So now I have a new love to add.. The Wicked + The Divine. The idea behind this is that every ninety years, ten gods incarnate as humans, and live for 2 years. They tend to be powerful in some way, and they crave attention. The art in this is very different from The Sandman, but very vivid, and the story is dark and usual... I'm seeing a theme here in what I like!
