  1. I had accounts with both GR and LT, but couldn't keep up, so I decided to delete the GR account. Recently though, I'm even behind with LT!
  2. Creepy isn't always good though, if you scare off some of your watchers - Beth has been a big fan, but she's rather disappointed that she may not enjoy it if it's too scary.
  3. I didn't like the music, but I did like the new Tardis. The storyline was ok, but I think both my girls found the people with the teeth a bit scary. As for Matt Smith, I just can't find it in myself to say goodbye to David, and accept a new one.
  4. I've been watching, and loving it.. but I find it hard to chat about and discuss, for some reason. I'm pretty much just letting it all happen, and not thinking too deep. Carlton and Damon have already said that they won't be answering every question, as they think some things should be left for discussion at the end. Here's one thing though.. most people seem to be saying that in the 'alternate timeline' when the bomb never went off, the island is under water, and that means that MiB did escape - so therefore why does everyone seem to be living a generally better life? However, I think that the island being under water may mean that they were BOTH trapped, and the battle or game between them stopped.. the losties have therefore not been touched by Jacob, and their lives have followed their original paths. Mind you, those sideways lives may not really matter, as they are apparently going to come together in the near future.
  5. Welcome Cressie. Sorry we had to authorise your registration - we were hammered by spammers overnight, so have had to take some precautions.
  6. Can I ask everyone to please not 'hotlink' to photos on other sites. As per the posting guidelines:
  7. Not surprisingly, we already have a thread for LOST, please search for popular topics.
  8. From another thread I posted in.. Jonathan Stroud - Bartimaeus Trilogy and Heroes of the Valley Angie Sage- Septimus Heap series William Hussy - Witchfinder John Connolly - The Gates
  9. My daughter really enjoyed when she was about 9-10.
  10. If anyone does know anything about it, I'm sure they'll help - there's no need to prompt.
  11. I was listening to this as an audio book, but I gave up quite quickly. Looking at your spoilers, I'm glad I did!
  12. runner, if you start a new thread about a book, could I please ask you to include more information about the book, and some more of your thoughts on it? Thanks.
  13. For those of you interested in The Girl With Glass Feet, I'm about half way through, and it's a really good read. It's a slow paced story, but well written, and the idea behind the glass feet is just a part of it, as there's a lot about relationships etc. I'd recommend it so far, but of course I don't know how the story will progress and end.
  14. Hi. We usually ask people to start new threads for a book once they've read them - this means that you would be able to offer more information, and more importantly, your views. Have you considered keeping a reading thread here?
  15. Off the top of my head: Jonathan Stroud - Bartimaeus Trilogy and Heroes of the Valley Angie Sage- Septimus Heap series William Hussy - Witchfinder John Connolly - The Gates
  16. Katie is a modern teen, who finds it hard to get on with her peers, and likes nothing better than camping out under her bed with her books. After falling asleep whilst reading one day, Katie suddenly finds herself in Victorian England, under a sofa in Buckingham Palace. The majority of the book is a historical adventure. Katie is discovered by Princess Alice, the young daughter of the Queen, and then by James, the son of the royal doctor. Whilst trying to work out how Katie has gotten there, and finding a way home for her, they uncover a plot to assassinate the Queen. The three young people learn to work together, to find all the answers. The historical aspect is handled really well, especially the descriptions of The Crystal Palace, which was built for the 1851 Great Exhibition. It lead me to find out a little more, and anything which encourages further reading/ research in children has to be good! The adventure part of the story does run all the way through, but it picks up more in the second half. It was during this second half that I found myself drawn back to the book much more. Towards the end of the book, the issue of Katie
  17. Oh, I might enjoy that.. thanks for letting me know.
  18. I've just finished The Queen Must Die, and I hope to get a proper review written over the weekend. As a summary though, it's probably aimed at those somewhere 9 and 13, depending on reading ability, and it's strength is that it gives a good insight to life in Victorian times, plus the characters are interesting. The element of time travel, and the reasons behind it didn't quite work for me, although I can't put my finger on why. I personally feel that the author may have better simply writing an historical adventure for children, but in the age of Dr Who, this age group probably enjoy that added element.
  19. I have two books which they've asked me to prioritise - I shall make this one number three! Do you mean the reader for Magyk? If so, I loved his Marcia, and she actually became my favourite character. I also think that the reader for Flyte actually makes it sound more of a children's book.. maybe because the younger characters are sounding quite 'whiny' to me. Have they kept the Flyte reader for Physik, or does it change again?
  20. I shall certainly let you know once I get to it - it certainly seemed unusual.
  21. Here I go again, forgetting my thread! Witchfinder.. http://bcfreviews.wordpress.com/2010/02/24/witchfinder-by-william-hussey/ House of Leaves has also gone on hold for a while, as a publisher has sent me 6 books to review, listed here.. http://www.librarything.com/catalog/michelle_bcf&tag=Atlantic&collection=-1 I've almost finished the YA one, The Queen Must Die, review to follow. Meanwhile, I've been listening to Magyk on my iPod, which is the first in the Septimus Heap series. It was a great one to listen to, with a good reader. I've now moved on to Flyte, and unfortunately the reader isn't quite as good. I'm hoping the story will be as good as the first.
  22. So sorry, I missed your previous message! Your premium membership runs out on 5th April.

  23. Hi - thank you for the message, that made me laugh! Yes, leaving work is defintely my choice. However, I'm going to be staying there for a while, but as a locum nurse rather than a permanent one. It sounds odd, but it really does help me, and should improve things.

    How's everything with you?

  24. Actually, because I don't work on a Wed or Thurs, it's only one day! :D The funny thing is, I've been persuaded to work for them as a locum nurse for a while! It'll be different though.. it's on my terms, there will be less responsibility, I'm no longer doing the clinic which causes me most stress, plus I can walk away at any point!

I now see it as money in the bank, so I can cut back in the summer. :)

  25. There's a whole thread about the P&P book here.
