  4. Thank you, have reposted and its there, so must have pressed the wrong button
  5. Oh yes I agree with you, but on the forum I was on it was all women (not mumset or netmums). Not that there is anything wrong with all female forums They had got the knife out for a member and really being awful to her behind her back as there was another forum that everyone else used as well, there was also a mole on the first forum which was not me, anyway I stood up for her, asked her not to say it was me as she came across really nice on both forums and I wanted her to know before she shared anymore private stuff (I know we are all just names and will never know who people really are etc). Anyway she told, and then I made the scapegoat for the mole and eveyrone turned on me...... I was only tying to help a fellow poster who I thought I got on with and trusted not to tell, but she went on, told everyone she knew what was going on and then said I told them!!!! I won't go on because its boring, but yes I agree forums are for everyone to express a different opinion..... just being nosy which actor was it???? LOL.... you don't have to answer if you don't want to
  6. Good morning (Typed this the other day, tried to post it , don't know what I did wrong, don't think I pressed the correct buttons and it never made it here, so fingers and toes etc all crossed and hopefully I'll press the correct button and you'll be able to read and hopefully talk to me about this subject. LOL Think I'll need to brush up my pc skills an awful lot if I am going to do an OU course!!!!) So As title says Open University 1) Anyone doing Open University on here? 2) Anyone done OU on here? 3) Anyone thinking of doing OU on here? 4) Anyone just want to talk about OU in general or there free sister site OPEN LEARN I have done OU many moons ago, so far back over 16 years so they now don't count , but that's fine, just doing for me. I did level 1 in Arts and Humamaties 60 points and level 1 in Social Sciences part 1 and part 2 so another 60 points, for those who don't know OU you need to get 360 points over level 1,2 and 3. I have done quite a few free courses on Open Learn and have found a level 2 OU course A225 all about the history that I am intrested in, starts in October so am thinking about applying for the course as I feel ready to sit an exam course, until now I haven't thought my mind could contain info to sit an exam. Cost is quite high, know I can find time to study. Anyone want to talk OU or Open Learn? Hope so.
  7. Hi there, Think I may have done something wrong on here, so could someone please explain to me I posted a thread about Open University but can't remember where I posted it, so either I can't find it or it has ben taken down. If its been removed I don't understand as I think I postedit in General Chat where you can post about anything Can someone please enlighten me
  8. Wow, Thank you for saying hello to me
  9. Never heard of Poet's Day, what's your censored bit I went to Reading Uni for a week's summer school many moons ago
  10. Hello there, I'm new here as well, I can talk a lot as well once I get going. Just nervously joined this week.
  11. Good morning, That's sucks. I brought a new ladies bike before Christmas, the bike I had 23 years fell apart last year, I was just riding another bike from our shed as only needed a bike to go to work and shops with. The bike from the shed is a hybrid , tha'ts all I needed with a basket and a ticker to count my miles ...... can cycle 10 miles in an hour, go out early before work to cycle round town and when going to shops I go the long way to put some miles in. Anyway brought some nice skirts and dresses to wear last summer and realised I am unable to cock my leg over the bar wearing them and as I bike my bike everyday I'm not going to be able to wear them so just before Christmas I brought a ladies step through bike with a basket and lights from Halfords for just over £300 pounds. It's quite a nice bike. I had a couple of glasses of wine last night...... its a shame how things can come across on forums, but pleased you found this forum. I joined very nervously. What you reading? I've nearly finished Answered Prayers by Danielle Steel, its has a pretty good plot Not quite sure what I'm going to read next. Will finish it hopefully tomorrow, will choose a thin book I can finish before Thursday as I am off to Scotland next Friday until Monday so need a good thick book to take with me. Enjoy your weekend.
  12. Hi, Thank you for your reply. The Crunchies adverts were fun (I'm 58 years young) About fifteen years ago was working as a passenger assistant taking disabled children to and from school and my driver and myself took in turns each week to buy us both a Crunchie bar...... I used to like to stick my tongue in the middle and make a hole in the honeycomb!!!!!!
  13. Hi there, Thanks so much for replying, I don't think so, I read my first Martina Cole book last year so have been seeking her books out. I like many different authors and tend to choose books from reading the back of books, like Lesley Pearce, Barabra Taylor Bradford but only read the first in the series as I find the rest of the series wishy washy. A Woman of Substance was the first ever one I read and to me is the best. The first Lesley Preace book I read was Remember Me and nothing has been as good as that, it was very powerful and it related with modern times as well even thought it was set in the very very past, think I read the best one first.
  14. 1981 Just started work at a hospital, in the soical club a jukebox 20p per song, at lunch time the only song that was played was "no Woman No Cry by Bob Marley, it was played so often all you could hear was loads of crackles on the record so not sure why people still kept putting their 20p's in to hear it .MEGA mega brill song .
  15. A very nervous hello Wondering if anyone will make it here. Have a wonderful Friday....... for us oldies its Crunchie Day
  16. Hello, Just joined about a week ago as I was looking for a title of a couple of books I had read at primary school, people found one of the books really quickly for me, think I shall ask for a copy for Mother's Day. Took a lot of courage to post as I have had my fingers burned in a forum many years ago when trying to stick up for someone who was being bullied in the forum, she didn't keep it to herself that I was trying to help her and I got accused nastly of being the mole as there was a big mole on there at the same time, and it wasn't me, so haven' been in a forum since then, what brought me here was I had no other way of finding the books and really wanted to know for my memory journal that I am writing, so typed in book forums and this is the first one that came up..... so I was mega brave, not sure how much I will post as still feel a bit.......... about forums, but have been told you are all nice and friendly, and what I see so far you are really are so thank you. I'm 58, although very chatty person, I find it hard to make friends and am a bit of a loner along side hubby who is 52. Four children girl 33 boy 24 and a set of girl/boy twins 22. Boy twin lives at home, his sister last year at uni,, other two live away from town. Love reading, its not a hobby but a human right to me, have read about 13 books this year already, always aim for 52 books a year. like baking with hubby, watching tv but not soaps, keeping fit on treadmill and other exercise at home, keep a mega journal and useless at art and craft but have just discovered junk journaling on Utube on Kayley Anne channel. Like learning o have been doing free courses off the OU sister site Open Learn, social history stuff and nature, english and maths. Thinking of doing a level 2 OU course in History but not sure as it is costly. Work very part time and go to church on most sundays, not happy with the way the vicar does things (they have driven people away from church) but I get a lot out of being in the building, have only been back at church since 2016, was a non believer for many years. Don't drive so can't go anywhere else to worship. Pc skills are really rubbish can just do the bits I need to do but could live without it all,, would love to be a hermit Have posted in finding books and Reading Challenges. If you feel you can be my friend(s) and just chat about nothing in general as I am very good at tat I am going to start a thread in general chat section titled Suzanne here, perhaps someone on here would like to chat to me. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm done it, been building up to this for a few days, keep changing my mind of whether to post this or not, so pushing the boat out...... please be kind to me, but I know you will. I have waffled enough, going to be mega nervous now as I press the submit button. Have a good day today, everyone who has reached the end of this!!!!! Hope this makes some sort of sense, haven't read it back as I'm scared I will just hit delete
  17. Yes I agree the Catherine Cookson books can be a bit samey. I think one of my faves would have to be The Dwelling Place, Our Kate was good and I reember a lot about The Cinder Path. Watched The Mallens on TV but never read the books. I too wonder about the Famous Five, tey did make a tv seies a few years back but didn't watch as have charactors firmly in my head how they should be and didn;t want to spoil that. Maloray Towers was made in to a tv series, watch some of the first series with dd2 who is 22 just for a laugh, it was pretty good, read all the books Martina Cole is a bit samey sometimes but the chapters are normlly very short and I can also normally read them pretty quickly. Just about to start the new one
  18. Good afternoon Many thanks for replying. Wow you are like me an avid reader. Other challenges I have done are mixing in some children's books within my 52 books, and a few classics like gone with the wind and The Thorn birds What I would love to do is to go back and reread all The Famous Five and Secret Seven as I have read them all when I was a girl. Also would be nice to re read all the Catherine Cookson novels. As sort of challenges I am slowly working my way through the Martina Cole books, only read my first one last year and are pretty hooked on her, used to read novels like that when I was in my teens (now aged 58). Always open to new books to read.
  19. Good afternoon, just joined yesterday so please be gentle with me, not been in a forum for many many years (long story, got my fingers burned in a forum while trying to help a fellow member out as people not being nice to her and got assused of being a mole, long boring story but put me off, only came on here to see if people could find out two books for me that I read as a child, thought I would put my neck out and post in this section) I keep a book journal and try to read at least 52 books every year, sometimes its more. A few years ago ( will not be able to find list as hidden up in loft) but I did a Alphabet Challenge ie reading an author for every letter of the alphabet. With some hunting I did find a novel/book with every letter of the alphabet, even the letter X, a chinese author. I didn't read from A to Z so perhaps that could be another challenge
  20. YES YES... just been to look on good old Amazon, and yes that is the one, I now remeber the little wooden horse working in the coal mine when reading the blur. Thank you so much, will be getting hubby to order a copy for me. Let's see if anyone can find the other book for me. You have made my day, thank you again
  21. Good afternoon, I'm new here, this is my first post so please be gentle with me. I'm trying to find out the title of two books I read as a child as I would really like to put them on my bookshelf....... this is also a long shot as I can't really give you too much information as I only have limited memory of them. I'm 58 years of age. Book 1........ when I was about 7 I always used to keep borrowing this book from the library, so much that the librarians used to laugh and say not again. It was a hard backed book, I remeber the cover being a darkist blue and a young female child (with short curly hair) looking up at something. The book wasn't set in England as the names weren't English and I think they lived in some sort of dirt huts. The young girl was born blind and when she reached the age of about 2 this begger man used to come and borrow her, the family were poor and her dress was like rags to beg in the streets for money, he used to get cross with her sometimes as she didn't want to sit still with her arms streched out face turned towards the sky so people could see she was blind. That's all I can remember so I know I may never ever find out the title and author etc... but thanking you in advance for reading. Book 2....... last year at primary school so would still be about 7 (LOL). Every Friday afternoon our teacher would read to us, (she did read us the Moonies which was great). This book was all about a little wooden horse and his adventures. Again not much to go on, the only part that sticks in my mind is the wooden horse either got lost/was mislaid/ thrown away by accident and he ended up in the gutter which had water in it so he floated away down the gutter. I would really like to find both of these books or just one to read again, I know this will be a needle in a haystack but someone may have read either of the books and may be able to help me in my quest. Thank you so much for reading
