It's a holiday weekend in the UK, but just Monday. We have a similar weather forecast - it's meant to get very hot and then some storms over the weekend, and then cool down a bit, thankfully, to a more manageable 22 (they're forecasting 28 tomorrow and Saturday).

The man who sold the world - David Bowie (or Lulu)

When I read it a few years ago I was surprised at how many familiar quotations I came across. It's also very relevant today, I'd love to know what Oscar would have made of our celebrity obsessed media for example, and reality TV.

I find that happens so often with thrillers - they start off really well, keep you gripped - and then fall apart in the last few pages (or minutes if it's a TV programme or film). They never seem to know how to finish things do they? Shame to feel let down after you've gone along with it.

Yes I must dig out the second one to read! Couldn't quite get to it last night without the pile collapsing

Sounds an interesting combination, most crosses seem to have JR in them (or border collies for the larger dogs). She sound sweet.
I love seeing some of the old names too.

Pretty hot at lunchtime but not too bad, quite cloudy which holds the heat off a bit I suppose.

Yes it's awful, she must be feeling terrible, it's a kind gesture from her.

I thought the film was quite tame by today's standards, and at least the portrait was better than the one in Penny Dreadful! What a letdown that was.

Just got "Death in the Tuscan Hills" by Marco Vichi.

Hi Noll, thanks for the list but did you mean to post it on my book blog? I'm probably going to have trouble to do much of the English counties letr alone the rest of the UK, although I have read a few on your list a while ago.

What type of dog is she? It's good she likes you! Old graveyards are fascinating aren't they, and so atmospheric.

Looks like being a hot one today, so far anyway, with a bit of cloud.

Now that Person of Interest has finished (and boy did they mess that one up) I've got 4 eps of Timeless, and the whole of the last series of Sleepy Hollow.
-
Sounds horrible, not so humid here, but very grey and dreary.
-
Just got "Blackwater" by James Henry.

Bit odd here, started off sunny, then got dull, then quite muggy. I think our forecast is similar to yours Athena.
Went out at lunchtime and it wasn't nice at all, a bit chilly and threatening rain.

Dune by Frank Herbert

Meant to be rain and thunder over the holiday weekend - typical!
-
Yes the pilot episode was superb, shame the later series tanked and it got more and more ridiculous, but still I kept watching!

I know what you mean! I'm sure you'll get used to him, perhaps he's one of those people who has a big breakfast, or a big dinner! As long as he's nice and you get along is the main thing.

Meant to be hot this week - could be summer!

So what's the difference between that and being a vegan - from the "ovo" bit does that mean you eat eggs? Which of course would make you a non-vegan!
