  1. Yes it's awful, she must be feeling terrible, it's a kind gesture from her.
  2. I thought the film was quite tame by today's standards, and at least the portrait was better than the one in Penny Dreadful! What a letdown that was.
  3. Just got "Death in the Tuscan Hills" by Marco Vichi.
  4. Hi Noll, thanks for the list but did you mean to post it on my book blog? I'm probably going to have trouble to do much of the English counties letr alone the rest of the UK, although I have read a few on your list a while ago.
  5. What type of dog is she? It's good she likes you! Old graveyards are fascinating aren't they, and so atmospheric.
  6. Looks like being a hot one today, so far anyway, with a bit of cloud.
  7. Now that Person of Interest has finished (and boy did they mess that one up) I've got 4 eps of Timeless, and the whole of the last series of Sleepy Hollow.
  8. Sounds horrible, not so humid here, but very grey and dreary.
  9. Just got "Blackwater" by James Henry.
  10. Bit odd here, started off sunny, then got dull, then quite muggy. I think our forecast is similar to yours Athena. Went out at lunchtime and it wasn't nice at all, a bit chilly and threatening rain.
  11. Dune by Frank Herbert
  12. Meant to be rain and thunder over the holiday weekend - typical!
  13. Yes the pilot episode was superb, shame the later series tanked and it got more and more ridiculous, but still I kept watching!
  14. I know what you mean! I'm sure you'll get used to him, perhaps he's one of those people who has a big breakfast, or a big dinner! As long as he's nice and you get along is the main thing.
  15. Meant to be hot this week - could be summer!
  16. Blood Wedding by Pierre Lamaitre
  17. Stand and Deliver - Adam and the Ants
  18. It's the first episode I've watched all the way through, and I enjoyed it until it got about 2/3rds of the way along, and then I just started to get bored with it, not sure why really. But it looks like they're starting to build up to the regeneration now.
  19. I agree about Lorna Doone, I did find some of the language a bit flowery and it took ages for the story to get going, although once it did I really enjoyed it. It also helped that I'd recently visited a lot of the places mentioned in the book, which gives it a great sense of "place".
  20. Interesting comments - I haven't read this book, but did read a lot of Enid Blyton when I was a child, and loved the adventure side and sheer escapism, but with regard to the comments about women's expectations etc - that was the norm at the time the book was written, in fact when I was at primary school I can remember female teachers giving up their job if they got married! Sounds very odd now, but at the time we didn't think anything of it, as it was how things were. And people coming back to work after having a baby was virtually unknown!
  21. We were given The Pearl to read as well, thankfully it wasn't a set book, as the blurb on the back put us all off reading it!
  22. Oh yes, I think I saw that one, haven't read it though, glad you liked it.
