  1. Yes, I read it a couple of times as a kid, I think it was one of the first books I read on my own. I was pretty young, but I always thought it was sad! My mom thinks it is a positive story lol Such different opinions.
  2. Oh, you will love Charlotte's Web! Is that for the read a thon?
  3. O.M.G. lol I tried out about 1/3 of the sample last night and its terrifying! I am having serious reading motivation problems this month, but I was definitely interested, so much so, I think I might "dump" my current reads and pick it up.
  4. I am so very sorry about this because I want you to like it
  5. I haven't finished the book, but the movie was good, worth a watch. What I have read of the book, was followed by the movie closely... for what its worth
  6. Wow- I'm sure it will be pretty when you are finished We decided to leave for Disneyland yesterday after school was out (8 hour drive). We had a blast this morning and then my little one needed a rest so we are in our hotel now, before going back tonight for fireworks and some more rides! I know we have a weather thread, but I thought I should just mention Southern California's 80F (27C) temperatures in late January There are people actually laying out by the pool
  7. I was just going to post that
  8. All 11 of her novels are amazing, I really like Pearl S Buck a lot! I can't decide who is my favorite author Buck or Hemingway I just started Dracula in addition to The War of the Worlds on audio as Immersion Reading. The Dracula version is performed by Tim Curry as Van Helsing, Simon Vance as Jonathan Harker and Alan Cumming as Narrator. So far, I am still in a slump, but making some steady progress- if little at a time.
  9. You should put Sand part one by Hugh Howey on your Series which consist of mainly standalone books by various authors, whether or not I want to read the books depends on which author and which story List
  10. My favorite book of all time! The whole trilogy is great. I hope you like it.
  11. Virginia I am so sorry! Somehow, I missed your post above Nollaig's. That is just terrible, after all that you all have been through! It's astounding! Today, I dropped my math course. I am extremely disappointed in myself, but I just couldn't hack it. I need the course below it. Plus, the teacher was really annoying. I will, of course, continue with English. Anyway, I just feel really let down
  12. ha ha I am the opposite... That's one reason I love short stories... but then again, I don't mind when I don't know the end of a book, either
  13. Aw! How sweet of Devi! I am so glad you liked Silent Sister so much! GL with the Gayle Foreman!
  14. I'll have to give The First Days a try, I was just thinking yesterday that my long short list for the year needs a zombie book or two!
  15. I've done a bit of e-book downloading as well. Yesterday I bought Bram Stokers Dracula on audio, to do Immersion Reading. Narrated by Alan Cumming, Tim Curry as Van Helsing and Simon Vance as Jonathan Harker. This is exciting to me, as I have attempted Dracula three times and failed, mostly because of the language. For some reason, hearing it spoken helps me a lot. I also purchased HG Wells' The War of the Worlds, also on audio for Immersion Reading, I started that yesterday and am still reading the Jack Reacher book with it.
  16. I think you will like Imajica. Are you looking forward to Atlas Shrugged, or not?
  17. I miss The OC
  18. No joke. Above, Obama with a Secret Service agent in Hawaii.
  19. I am glad you liked it so much! I loved the contrast between what I was reading in the book, to what it really meant, you know? I will be reading Haig's The Radley's this year! I like that cover, here was mine- I just lol at the nose. Yes! As soon as possible Aghast you haven't read it already!
  20. A bit?? US Presidents have Secret Service Security for the rest of their lives- and need it, unfortunately. I believe their close families have them too- like Chelsea Clinton probably has some. I can't imagine seeing Jimmy Carter at the movies, I'd fall over. Tarja Halonen sounds like an amazing woman! I wonder what movie she was watching!
  21. Wait- what? You saw a former President at a movie theater?? OMG I just read her bio- SHE was watching a movie in public, just right out in the open like that? Did anyone recognize her or say anything?
  22. I think Athena and I are reading this together this year. Now I can't wait! I am slowly getting my motivation back, but still reading Lee Child's The Affair. I'm not turning to it often, but I am enjoying what I read when I do read.
  23. I am the same with my reviews. I never read other people's reviews really (Except for here), unless the book is controversial in some way or polarizing. This year, I am liking books I don't know much about. I started that at the end of last year, not knowing so much about my current and future reads.
  24. Ya, I want to read that one too, possibly with my dad. I've already downloaded the sample for us to try out. Mmmm, this is a good one.
  25. Get ready to take a list of quote notes!
