  1. I'm stalking you lol. Don't know if you saw, but in the 5 or 10 thread, Finders Keepers and Prodigal Summer are two of the books I want to read this year- mostly because of you! I had no interest in Finders Keepers til your review and you gave me the push with Prodigal Summer
  2. Lol welcome!
  3. I guess, now that I checked, I only have the samples for High Lonesome and Black Daliah & White Rose, but I was introduced to her writings a lot in my high school class. Flannery O'Connor is just another short story writer. She mostly writes about (wiki describes her) as writing about morality and ethics, but when I think back on her writings, I think of dust lol. It was a good class, an alternative to the standard English course, I'm so thankful I took the class. It started my love of short stories and introduced me to my favorite writer, Raymond Carver.
  4. I think realistic was what the person telling me about it meant, by describing it as graphic. While graphic violence doesn't turn me off, I was very sensitive at the time. I think we bought on the same daily deal! Edited to ask : do you want to read the book now?
  5. The Good Muslim sounds good... I've never read anything set in Bangladesh before, I might have to check this out.
  6. I'm glad you liked the AS King and hope you like all your new books!
  7. I wanted to see that, but was told it was very violent. I bought the book late last year on daily deal.
  8. 1) Finders Keepers by Stephen King 2) Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver 3) Night School (Jack Reacher #21) by Lee Child (out in November) 4) American Heiress: The Wild Saga of the Kidnapping, Crimes and Trial of Patty Hearst by Jeffery Toobin 5) Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
  9. Woohoo!! Congrats, Noll!
  10. Cool alarm clock I hope you like The Girl on the Train- I liked it a lot!
  11. I finished Philippa Gregory's Three Sisters, Three Queens which was a great read. Now I'm on to Antonia Fraser's Marie Antoinette, which I've been wanting to read for years. It's close to 550 pages
  12. Ya know, it just occurred to me, my favorite S. King is Thinner... you might like that one too.
  13. The book Carrie is soooo much better than the movie! I haven't read The Shinning, so can't comment. I tried Pet Seminary, but that's been the only King I couldn't get into. I'm not sure what Battle Royale is.
  14. Oh yes, it's a big deal here! I'm pleased to see I've read at least one book on his list
  15. It's a great one I just re read it last month. Reminded me just how great it is.
  16. Yes, but how many have cats??
  17. This is going to be a trip of a lifetime! I wish him a safe journey
  18. . I don't think I've read anything with cats!

  20. Ooh- Spirit Legacy sounds interesting. I might check that out- it'd be a little of a departure for me. I downloaded the sample. I've been lucky and have enjoyed most of what I've read this year. I'd have to say though, Kristin Hannah's The Nightingale and We the Living by Ayn Rand were to of my favorites. Course, Ayn Rand isn't for everyone
  21. You've read all these books I've never heard of
  22. Wow! You've read so much! Too bad not as much as normal, but that's awesome! What's been your favorite read of the year so far?
  23. I second Michelle's recommendation for Carrie. I've been wanting to read Under the Dome for ages. Edited to add: you'd probably like The Long Walk too, but I wouldn't consider it horror. I didn't know what I'd classify it as though.
  24. I've recently had to move and give up about a third of my collection, so I sympathize. But my Kindle?? It's attached to me like a third hand
  25. . That's a lot of books! I wish you good fun with this latest challenge.
