Darn- forgot In Cold Blood, probably one of my favorite books. Seems like Fiction to me, maybe because I read it after seeing the movie. -

Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi was great. Zodiac Unmasked by Robert Greysmith (The book the Jake Gyllenhaal movie was based on) was good for some chills. -
My dad recommended to me the Prey series last night... anyone into him? Should I start with Rules of Prey? Will that hook me? Sandford has only like, a million book cannon. Should I wait on the Virgil Flowers series?

My mom and I went on a trip across the US (52 days, 36 states) and I actually had the exciting pleasure of visiting Roslyn, Washington, where Northern Exposure was filmed. It was exactly the set- Ruth Ann's Store (now sells souvenirs- believe me, I totally bought the store ), the Radio Station and the Brick- which we couldn't go in and have a beer because we had my 6 mo old. I mean, come on people lol. It as really neat. OH! And the mural on Rosie's Café is right at the end of the street! Northern Exposure is my fav TV Show (Well, a tie with M*A*S*H).

I always thought the quote "Be the change you wish to see in the world" by Gandhi reflected Mandela well. RIP. From AFP: Mandela is survived by three daughters, 18 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. He has four step-children.

Interested to find out how you like it!

I'm about 2.5 hours from Monterey and we go there every year for my birthday.... in about a month. I always feel like I can feel the books, ya know? (And the Aquarium can't be beat! ) The best part is being there in the winter, with virtually no tourists!

' I like it, but it is probably one of the more challenging books I've read in a long time. I'm 23% through and I'm hooked now, but I keep wanting to back out I won't though

Put it on my TBR list also.

I keep getting Goldfinch recommended to me. Seems interesting, not sure if my cup of tea.

Running Blind- Lee Child

I think its the movie that gives it that perception. Scarlett is my favorite character period. I love the changes she goes through. What's your favorite Steinbeck?
-
I love this book, it reminds me of my teen years. My freshman year was exactly like Charlie's experience.

In addition to Hild, I just started 22 Faces by Judy Byington. Its about a woman who develops multiple personalities to cope with religious abuse at a young age. Its a hard topic, but a fast read- 428 pages.
-
Just finished the Hunger Games Tribute Guide., now onto Hild.
-
Have you seen the movie? The perception of the movie is that Scarlet is superficial and extremely spoiled. It completely misses the inner changes the character goes through and how she was never really, as self absorbed as portrayed.

Don Henley's Boys of Summer By The Ataris (my favorite cover, Smooth Criminal, already mentioned ) Worst cover- and this my favorite band, so that says a lot- is Big Yellow Taxi By Counting Crows.

I Agree- my last movie too. Saw it the day before it came out in a sneak peak

What Was The Last Music You Bought?

I'm about 12% through on my Kindle for Hild and was just wondering if anyone is reading it and if they'd like to chat. Abridged by me from Amazon In seventh-century Britain, small kingdoms are merging, frequently and violently. A new religion is coming ashore; the old gods are struggling, their priests worrying. Hild is the king's youngest niece, and she has a glimmering mind and a natural, noble authority. She will become a fascinating woman and one of the pivotal figures of the Middle Ages: Saint Hilda of Whitby. ...Working from what little historical record is extant, Griffith has brought a beautiful, brutal world to vivid, absorbing life.

Have now fully committed to Hild By Nicola Griffith. I don't think it will be an easy read, and I think it's one of those you have to trust in- ya know like you don't fully understand now, but you will later kinda book?
