  1. *downloads Kindle Sample*
  2. Wow- that all helps- thanks! I'm on the waiting list for my first library book- Harry Potter. I'm not sure I will like it, but I'm going to give it a go. Also ordered my first pre-owned 12 Years a Slave.
  3. So much for only buying books on my TBR list... although I did have a short TBR list just so I could buy some this yr 12 Years a Slave- Solomon Northrup (99cents) Mile 81- Stephen King (80 pgs- Kindle single) In the Tall Grass- Stephen King and Joe Hill (50 pgs, Kindle Single) Horns- Joe Hill (rebought for Kindle) Throttle- Stephen King and Joe Hill (99cents)
  4. All excited cause I found out Stephen King's Mile 81 goes with, or has a sequel written by King and Joe Hill! It's called In the Tall Grass. Anyone read either? They are both Kindle Singles, 80 and 60 pgs respectively. I've been waiting to read Mile 81 now I have the Joe hill/ King team to look forward too!
  5. I have to get off my duff and finally watch Winter's Bone and Silver Linings Playbook, which I've wanted to see forever. I like watching her on screen and off and I hope she stays around forever. I think she is original and quirky but humble and if its an act, then she deserves an Oscar.
  6. I'm just curious, if I pay for a pre-order, how does Amazon notify you when they send the book to you when it comes out? And for Library users: Also, does the library tell you how long you have the book when you download a book? And the books go right to the Kindle? How often do you use the library?
  7. The right place for it, hmmm? No, no, for the record, I liked most of it.
  8. I thought this was cute of Jennifer Lawrence, especially the 3rd video. She's been making lots of appearances for her Academy Award nomination as Best Supporting Actress in American Hustle (March 2nd). The beginning starts with her meeting an actor from Homeland and does contain a (big) spoiler (but it is announced in the article). In the end are small clips of her "photobombing" certain stars (pretending to be taking pictures with them by nonchalantly posing next to them). http://tv.yahoo.com/blogs/tv-news/jennifer-lawrence--super--homeland--fan--has-the-realest-brody-reaction-ever--video-182338472.html
  9. If you are in the US, they are still $199 for the 7.0 HDX
  10. Heaven!! Especially with a bit of desert wine
  11. There you are! Either I haven't been on or you haven't on, but I haven't seen you around. I ended up with a Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 inch and am already on my library's book list for the first Harry Potter Thanks for all your advice and help. BTW- don't you have a reading log?
  12. Have you read any of Barbara Kingsolver's YA? Try The Bean Trees or Animal Dreams... it's geared to a High School audience, not about the end of the world, quick reads and no cheesy romance lol
  13. Ooooh- you have a great read ahead of you! It was my first King, in fact.
  14. Vanilla caramel gelato
  15. And 7.0 HDX Fire's are only $199 right now.
  16. Over 50% done with Abarat by Clive Barker. Wow- what a tale! Dunno if I will read #2 right away, but so far I love it- but I love his imagination so much. If this is YA, this is really for the likes of ages 15-16 imo.
  17. Being from the Bay Area part of California, I've been through a few- only one that large though, and one very shallow one, which brought down almost every chimney in the area I lived in. I am so sorry you have them, they are scary as... xoxo
  18. Yes, when I go through a manic phase, it is harder for me to concentrate. I hate that. Its like, you have to take everything else away AND reading too?...
  19. 99 cents here in the US... great deal. I'll take it! Thanks!
  20. Maybe I phrased wrong. I usually read a bit faster that I am right now, I was reading Angela's Ashes while on vacation, so didn't have as much time to spend on it than I normally do. I usually average a book every 5-6 days- but I don't go to school or work. 10 days for me to finish a 530pg book? That's just silly to me lol
  21. Like everyone else, I go with Amazon. But I only read ebooks/ Kindle books so I don't use the "wish" feature, I download the "sample" of the book. When in need of a read, I just skim what I have in Samples, read the Sample and decide if I like it enough or not. I have a huge Sample list Oh- and I never buy a book without reading the sample first!
  22. I totally agree. I even liked the end!
  23. Returned my Amazon Fire for a Samsung 10" which is awesome- so far. Anyway, started Abarat by Clive Barker. It's brilliant of course, like he always is. Never disappoints. I think of his art a lot when reading- since he lives in So. California, he comes north on book tours often. He paints on 20 feet canvases. 25% finished with Abarat.
  24. It's taken me 10 days, but I finished Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt. Liked it, 4 out of 5, wasn't bored or anything. Started Clive Barker's Abarat (another on the TBR list), so we'll see how that goes- I liked the sample. I should be reading faster though.
  25. JJ Abrams was on one of my favorite shows in November. He talked about S. http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/430771/november-21-2013/j-j--abrams
