  1. I'm afraid of this addiction, now that I know the power of my online library system... mawhahaha I've found lots to read, just not enough time to read them!
  2. Look for the "Tuffy" brand. They are rated for toughness. We have 2 pit bulls, one as big as a Rottie and they are big time chewers. These lasted them a lot longer- plus, no squeaker to deal with. For teething and other strong chewers, I'm sure you know about Kong's. Good luck with the resume- I hate writing/ updating those!
  3. I found some pretty interesting samples last night while having a bout of insomnia. I got into Oprah's Book Club recommendations and also Amazon's top books of September- so far, What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriart and Jennifer Weiner's All Fall Down sound pretty good. I also found out The Goldfinch won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, so I got the sample for that too, although it doesn't appeal to me as much. Anyway, they are all available through my library! I'm excited as I haven't used the library with my kindle yet. I'm that way too- I must change it in my little place under my user name. Also about my signature, but I like the one I have now so haven't changed it.
  4. How is Wastelands: Stories from the Apocalypse? Sounds goood! It doesn't release here til January.
  5. From Aragorn to Heathcliff, people are weighing in on Twitter's bookadayuk, they are asking this question today: Who is your literary crush? I'm curious what we would say
  6. I missed this wiki link the first time around- I really enjoyed it, thanks!
  7. The 3rd installment, Edge of Eternity (at 1,104 pages) of The Century Trilogy comes out in the US September 16th. Has anyone read Fall of Giants or Winter of the World?
  8. I wouldn't call it a "bar" but it's certainly not a pub! My favorite "bar" in the whole world is FEIJOA in Amsterdam. There is even a short video here http://www.feijoa.nl/#!feijoa-feeling/crrl They make fine cocktails- I love their passion fruit martini's. They actually float a small passion fruit on top and serve with a small golden spoon so you can eat it. Best ever. Big, huge bowls of fresh fruit for purees and juices- made right in front of you. The guys are super nice- I've met the owner in the video. He tends his own bar.
  9. I know, I go back and forth too. I read the book (unless I didn't know it was a book first) before I see the movie too. Maze Runner was supposed to be the first to see without reading the book. I just finished 12 Years a Slave, read the book first and I can not believe the liberties they took with the movie! Then, there are the movies that are better than the book!
  10. That's interesting. Do you ever feel like changing your rating after time?
  11. Yes, I read all 3 of the Divergent books and I saw the movie too. This is why, I think, from now on, I might see the movie first. I don't know, there is just something that is always missing in the movie and I think I want to read that. But after, if that makes sense! I have always read the books first though, and am usually disappointed- except in the case of Hunger Games, I thought the movies have been great! You will like Divergent for sure, I think!
  12. Oh really? Maybe I should read the book first! Did you read Divergent?
  13. bookadayuk September 9th- Your favorite literary crush I still have to say Jack Reacher. Although he is NOT my type at all, I just can not get over that guy! I wish he'd protect me!
  14. I loved it! It's really different. Takes place in Germany and has 3 endings that are part of the movie. Each "Run" has consequences in how the film turns out. And she's got red hair too
  15. Welcome! How is the Maze Runner? I want to read that soon, maybe after the movie comes out.
  16. Yup- here too.
  17. Have you seen Run Lola Run?
  18. Wow- I had no idea you got so many!
  19. I can't wait to find out what you can do in 59 seconds to change your life!
  20. That sounds interesting- especially the Russian setting. Today on bookaday is Favorite Literary Dinner Party. I'm surprised to see how many said the tea party in Alice in Wonderland, I should've said that! I don't know what to say, so I['m skipping today. Tomorrow is literary crush! Anyway, I think this one is for the TBR pile!
  21. End of the World Running Club is today's (September 8th) daily deal for 99 cents. It's on my TBR. From Amazon: Edgar Hill is 35 and caught in his own headlock. Overweight slob, under-performing husband and reluctant father – for Ed, the world may as well have already ended. So when it does end in a catastrophic asteroid strike and Edgar and his family find refuge in an Edinburgh army barracks, it comes as something of a relief. His world becomes simpler, life becomes easier, things might just be looking up. But nothing's ever that simple. Returning from a salvage run in the city, Edgar finds his family gone, taken to the south coast for evacuation by an international task force. Suddenly he finds himself facing a gruelling journey on foot across a devastated United Kingdom. Accompanied by a group of misfits that include a large, hairy tattoo artist and an old man who claims to have run around Australia, Edgar must race against time and overcome his own short-comings, not to mention 100 mile canyons and a very strange council estate, to find the people he loves before he loses them forever. A vivid, gripping story of hope, long-distance running and how we break the limits of our own endurance.
  22. I bet I read for 4 hours and accomplished 200 pages. Here's to October!
  23. Have you read a lot of Margaret Atwood'? I just got MaddAdam recommended to me yesterday. I've only just read The Handmaids Tale, but I'd be interested if you liked something in particular. She'll be out with a series of short stories (Stone Mattress) that I might get, it will be out on the 16th (US).
  24.
