  1. I finished The Maze Runner last night, kept me up late! A great read. I am starting The Scorch Trials (Maze Runner series, Book 2) right now.
  2. Hon, I will totally discuss this book with you... it's on going!! I am only starting on Scorch Trials this morning, just finishing the first book last night. So we are just about the same. You will find the last 20 Chapters or so go fast, you'll finish quicker than you think Gosh, I hope not! But I think so Are you on to/ in to The Death Cure now?
  3. Oh my gosh!!! Happy Birthday!! I can't stop today to celebrate for you, but I can pause for a few minutes
  4. Great review, it was too bad you had some difficulty understanding what was going on at first, it did take a bit to get your bearings. I loved it and am glad The Scorch Trials is just as good (Just read that review as well)! I think it will go pretty fast for me, as I can't wait to see how it continues!
  5. Genre: Science-fiction Age-range: Young-Adult Format: Paperback Pages: 386 My synopsis: Thomas wakes up in a dark box that is hurling him to a bright light that turns out to be an agricultural glade filled with only boys and is surrounded by a stone maze. Paraphrasing from Amazon: Outside the towering stone walls that surround the Glade is a limitless, ever-changing maze. Is it the way out of the Glade? Then a girl arrives. The first girl ever. And the message she delivers is terrifying. My thoughts: Well, it is one heck of a book. It exceeded my expectations. I especially liked specific characters, I thought some were more developed than others, but the few main characters that are in the book are good ones. Like the rest of the group in our reading circle for the Dashner series, I am anxious to rip through these books and finish as fast as possible. Most- if not all- in the group read are ahead of me. The Scorch Trials, will be up next, as Gaia said, The Maze Runner left a provocative ending, I find it as a possible stand alone or the first book to the trilogy. I can only hope The Scorch Trials are as good as The Maze Runner. I found some parts reminiscent of Divergent, but most of all Lord of the Flies. It reminded me of a mash of the two. Recommended.
  6. Ok I have a question in The Maze Runner, I'm on to The Scorch Trials.
  7. Is Revival up next??
  8. I am bumping this up for those of us reading The Maze Runner (and also for those of you who have read Maze Runner and Divergent, just don't spoil the end of both books, please). Does anyone have thoughts about Maze Runner and Divergent? While I already responded to the spoiler above, now that I am reading Maze Runner, I just feel some of the feelings Thomas has are similar to those of Tris. I am not saying Roth ripped off Dashner AT ALL. They are two completely different books. If anything, there is a Lord of the Flies feel (with Maze Runner).
  9. lalalalalala
  10. Girl, you are a fast reader! What was that, TWO days???
  11. Aw! I'm so sorry! You just twisted your ankle too the other day
  12. I will see it, but the spoilers don't sounds appealing. I've stopped reading those, as they sounds too silly to actually be the movie. I hope that isn't the case Hopefully, J.J. Abrams can save it. Does your boyfriend want to see it? Seems like he is into them too?
  13. Based on some of your mentions of likes and dislikes on the board, I'd start with When I Found You, but I don't think Muggle liked it as much as I did, then again, I didn't care for Walk Me Home as much as he did. You really can't go wrong, all of them are good that I have read so far (I just wouldn't recommend to begin with, When You Were Older or, as Muggle said, Electric God). Don't Let Me Go is my favorite of hers to date, check out the synopsis and post when you choose! We'd love another convert

    Hi

Welcome to BCF! And a fellow Ken Follett fan! I read Pillars of the Earth this year and fell in love. Next year I hope to do World Without End and perhaps, the beginning of the Century trilogy, Fall of Giants. I haven't done that many audiobooks, I usually do Kindle's Immersion Reading if I do an audio. You might like The Good Earth by Pearl S Buck for Historical Fiction (It can be read as a stand alone or as the first in her generational trilogy of the same name). If you liked the Spanish War ear, For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemmingway is great too (also Historical Fiction, Amazon has an audiobook read by actor Campbell Scott and I believe it is in 1st person). Both books are in my top 5 of all time. But you'll get tons of recommendations. Hope to see you around and happy reading/ listening
  15. I'm behind all of you, so don't worry I need to get a move on!! I'm thinking I will have a lot of catch up time when school is out for Thanksgiving break around the 26- 30th. Hopefully, will be in the middle to end or so in The Scorch Trials by then and ready for The Death Cure.
  16. The Green Mile and Stand By Me are great movies too
  17. If I wasn't in the middle of this Maze Runner read, I would SO be reading that tomorrow.
  18. Is it just the science fiction aspect of the Grievers that is a bother? I think it is for me, the rest is sort of believable- the Maze, the kids put there, etc as far as the dystopian/ apocalyptic genre goes. But the Grievers stick out as way out there. Does that make sense?
  19. So is a Voyage sort of like in between a Paperwhite and a Fire? Does it have internet? I mean, besides for the store. Can you Google and Yahoo and all that?
  20. I have some of those CRH's on my long-short list for next year. Interesting you got Pay it Forward, I can't wait to hear what you think. I've only seen parts of the movie. Sounds uplifting and a good concept. On my list I have: Becoming Chloe- Catherine Ryan Hyde (226 pages) Always Chloe…- Catherine Ryan Hyde (280 pages) Jumpstart the World- Catherine Ryan Hyde (194 pages)] Chasing Windmills- Catherine Ryan Hyde (274 pages) Love in the Present Tense- Catherine Ryan Hyde (274 pages) Electric God- Catherine Ryan Hyde (320 pages) Diary of a Witness- Catherine Ryan Hyde (210 pages) The Year of My Miraculous Reappearance- Catherine Ryan Hyde (237 pages) Subway Dancer and Other Stories- Catherine Ryan Hyde (288 pages) Happy reading!! Maybe we can read one together next year. Don't know if I will get to all of those, but that is the goal!
  21. And that clown is creepy
  22. for new toys- especially reading ones!!
  23. Oh really? That's terrible. How could we have just ended up reading 2 of her just "meh" books?? I have Electric God on my list for next year, I am not reading anything (with a few exceptions) over 400 pages for 2015. It actually leaves me with quite a few CRH books, Becoming Chloe is on there
  24. I was planning on A Christmas Carol for the 5th, 6th and 7th... but I'd be up for one around Christmas too, as I wanted to read The 13 Days of Christmas by Jason F Wright. Of course, I'd have to stop and start Maze Runner series I did rubbish on this read a thon... um... but I did have fun! Now I will be reading The Humans along with The Maze Runner
  25. V... or 2 to people like me, is the best In my perfect little world, there are only 3 of them. (or, sigh, if I must, 4,5,1,2,3,6)
