  1. Congrats on the books !
  2. I read this book back in secondary school, for English class. I don't remember much of it other than that I liked it. I might re-read it at some point.
  3. x I'm glad to hear it ! x x Congratulations on finishing both! I hope your next read will be easier on the mind .
  4. x Awesome ! I was born in Arnhem and lived there for the first one and a half years of my life. I've visited all the cities you mentioned (you mean Leiden, right?), they're all nice in their own right.
  5. Nice !! I hope you enjoy them.
  6. x This sounds interesting, I'm glad you're enjoying it so far .
  7. x Awwww , that sounds so sweet. I wish you a lot of fun!
  8. I don't think I know this one . But I hope someone does!
  9. I hope you enjoy your time off ! After going out to a restaurant a few days ago to celebrate an anniversary of my family, I'm glad to rest a bit for the next few days. My brother has safely arrived in Santiago, Chili. I'll be doing some shopping but otherwise not a lot going on in the next week (gladly). This morning and yesterday I went for a brisk walk with the dogs and now I have some blisters on my feet. My weight has gone down though after eating at a restaurant which I think is pretty good.
  10. Nice! It's been on my wishlist for a while, I hope you enjoy it !
  11. ! There's also a big book with maps if I'm not mistaken. I can't remember what it's called atm but I saw it in a bookshop here. It was pricey and huge, I didn't buy it but I looked at it.
  12. Thanks ! Yeah, I don't know. Maybe it was a common thing back in those days, to have a cricket sitting on your hearth. In the story some of the characters like the sound it makes, its song.
  13. I would love to see a photo! They sound so cute !
  14. It's kind of a steal of The Wit and Wisdom of Discworld, isn't it? I mean the combination of the idea and the title. I have The Wit and Wisdom of Discworld and have read about a third of it. It's a nice idea when you want to tell other people about Discworld and I suppose it can be nice and entertaining to read, but I prefer reading the actual books themselves.
  15. Thanks, yes that was one of the reasons . I also wanted to read the original A Christmas Carol after seeing its story used in several other media.
  16. That sounds interesting, I've put it on my wishlist .
  17. x I wish you lots of fun! I looked it up, they're playing in Amsterdam. It's great to think you'll be a bit closer to here and get to be in my country etc. Have you been to the Netherlands before?
  18. x I don't know which one you should start with, but wanted to add I quite liked Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? .
  19. Your poor dad . I think I'm relatively lucky. I still have all four of my grandparents. I've known three of my greatgrandmothers, when I was a child, I've not met any of my greatgrandfathers.
  20. Nice reviews ! I didn't know The Jungle Book was a collection, thanks for letting me know! The Grapes of Wrath sounds like a pretty complex book (since I don't know much about that time period in the US), the accents would make it more difficult for me to read. I'm glad you liked the book though .
  21. x Wow, that's a lot! So cute . Nice review of The Glass Wall .
  22. x I think that's an excellent idea! I think I'd do that too.
  23. Welcome here ! I also love fantasy. A lot of the fantasy authors you mentioned are on my TBR (to be read, on my shelves but I haven't read them yet). I'm quite excited to read a lot of them, but I also love other genres so I'm mixing it up in my reading. I have a lot of unread books. Some of my favourite fantasy authors are Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson, David B. Coe, James Clemens, Karen Miller, Terry Pratchett, Tad Williams, Peter V. Brett, Maria V. Snyder, George R. R. Martin. Strangely enough I read "welding technologies" as wedding technologies and was then wondering what that would mean .
  24. It looks beautiful! Have fun ! We have a few light festivals here in Eindhoven too, I've seen bits a few times.
