Wow, you've read a lot of books this year! What did you think of A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin? I liked it quite a lot. I quite liked The Hunger Games series too. Did you like The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury (I presume so since you read it three times)? I have it unread on my shelf. I liked The Perks of Being a Wallflower but didn't love it as some people did. I recently read a Dickens book but didn't get on much with his writing style. Gone Girl is on my shelf unread. I have some of Kurt Vonnegut's books on my Kindle. Did you like the Stephen King books? I recently re-read IT for the 4th time and loved it. I have some other books by him on my shelf. I have Dracula on my shelf unread, and Uncle Tom's Cabin. I also have the Mark Twain books on my shelf unread (can you sense a theme here ). Is it common for you to read so many books? I've read a lot of books this year so far, I haven't kept track of it for most of my life so it's fun finding it out now that I'm doing so. Happy Reading !

x Awesome ! EDIT: I have about the same, in total over 2500 (+ Kindle ebooks) but under 2500 paper books.

x Awww . I'm glad your GP got to witness it though, at least he saw what it's like. I hope your new medicine helps you . Poor Devi .

Happy Thanksgiving to the people from the US! EDIT: Yesterday we went out for a little while and bought some clothes and books. It was a lot of fun. It was busy in town (with Sinterklaas coming up, lots of people are doing shopping etc), but I'm glad we went. I'm tired from it but I had a lot of fun and it was good to be out. We'd wanted to do this for a while now but we kept being too tired or other things came in between (ie. illness).

Enjoy your book! Sorry to hear one of the books arrived wasn't the right one, that's always annoying imo . I'm glad you liked iWoz, it sounds like a really interesting read, if I come across it cheap.. Can I ask how many books do you own?
-
Nice ! I'm interested in both of those. Is the Simon Pegg book his biography?

Sorry you didn't enjoy The Turn of the Screw, it sounds like I wouldn't very much like this author either. Great review though .

Tim's Horror, Fantasy and Sci-Fi Reads from 2012
Athena replied to Timstar's topic in Past Book Logs
x Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy these reads all that much . I guess The Wheel of Time is not for everyone. I have the Sherlock Holmes book unread on my shelf. I hope your next reads will be more enjoyable , maybe read a book of which you're pretty sure you're going to like it? -
x I didn't know you've lived in Amsterdam! Did you like it? Personally I find Amsterdam crowded and noisy , it's definitely not my favourite city of the Netherlands. That said, it has its own charms, I love the canals and some of the houses.

x Awwww that must be really difficult . I hope the meds will help you.

x That's true ! Was it written in the 20th century?

x Thank you! I don't see a reason why something that doesn't have much in the way of gender elements should be automatically male. So, a snow person . I'd like: - lots of chocolate, in all three flavours (dark, milk and white) - pretty candles and matches - more dog treats

It sounds intruiging, but I have no idea yet either. Is it a classic?

x That's pretty amazing ! My family reads too, though my parents don't read that often since they have busy jobs. My brother doesn't read often either since he prefers to do other things and has a busy life too. I read the most, though my sister reads quite a bit too. Our tastes are overlapping in part but also different (we both like fantasy but she doesn't like a lot of other genres that I do like, ie. science-fiction, contemporary fiction, chick-lit). I'm the only one who really loves books a lot, I always love talking about books when I feel comfortable, but my family less so. We talk about it now and then, though .

x I cook quite often, but we don't have Thanksgiving here so we won't be doing anything special that day. I normally cook a variety of things, I think our dinners (most of which I cook or help prepare) are generally a mixture of Dutch, French, Italian, English and Asian meals. We always eat protein, starch and vegetables. Proteine is usually meat, fish or eggs. Starch is potatoes (baked, boiled, or chips or sweet potato), pasta, rice, couscous, or a type of bread (ie. stickbread or Turkish bread). Vegetables we buy at the market, personally I only like some vegetables but my family likes more of them. I prefer to prepare stuff that doesn't need to be heated up on the stove and turned every minute (ie. people say I make a great tuna salad) because I'm afraid of fire, but I cook using the stove (I hope that's the correct word?) more and more often (whereas in the past, other people used to have that task). These days my boyfriend and I cook most of the dinners, only in the weekend my parents help too (and sometimes my brother). They're home not so early during the week so I prefer to have dinner ready / almost ready when they come back, so we can eat straight away. Lately on Saturdays (when it's market) my parents buy fresh fish that we then eat, often with Turkish bread (+ toppings) and salad vegetables (ie. lettuce, tomato, cucumber, mushrooms, paprika (you call it 'peppers' but not the spicy ones)).

I also like notebooks! I don't think I have a big collection and I don't buy them that often, but if I see a nice one.. (there aren't many shops here that sell them). Janet, those notebooks you linked to are very pretty (and turquoise is an awesome colour in my opinion).

Great review ! I don't think it's a book for me, but it was nice to read your review on it.

x Wow, that's pretty amazing !

Great list ! I've read The Summoner by Gail Z. Martin but not yet the other books in the series. I should probably reread the first book before I read the others. What did you think of it? The Phantom of the Opera is on my shelf but I haven't read it yet. Do you like it so far? Some of Brent Weeks' books are on my shelf too (unread). I've read one Philip K. Dick book and have a couple of others on my wishlist. I have some of Kurt Vonnegut's books on my Kindle but I haven't read them yet (I prefer to read paper books most of the time).

Replay, awesome! I have that exact same cover. Congrats on both books !

I'm not sure where from, but I've heard this title before (well, it's not one that someone's likely to forget).. Nice review !
