gilliano666
Hi, I've joined this forum in the hope that I can get some tips. As a holiday abroad is out of the question, I would love to read a book that makes me feel like I'm in Greece, Italy or anywhere sunny. Just read Under the Italian Sun, but didnt really enjoy it. Any suggestion would be most welcome
Raven
Hi Gillian! What type of books do you prefer? (thrillers, rom-com etc!)
megustaleer
Obviously it depends on personal taste, but I don't think you could do better than The Enchanted April by Elizabeth von Arnim.
poppy
My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell is set on Corfu Island and feels like a wonderful holiday in the sun. Another favourite of mine is A Room With a View by E.M. Forster set mostly in Florence.
gilliano666
Thanks megustaleer and poppy, I'm going to look at your suggestions. I'm open to all genres, so long as there's a little sunshine in between the pages. By the way, there's a book due out called Looking for the Durrells next month. Looks interesting

Madeleine
Hi Gillian, do you have any favourite authors? Lots of crime threads on this site! there are lots of crime thrillers set in Italy - Donna Leon's series set in Venice is good - not too gory and lots of lovely descriptions of food as well!
