  5. 'The Penguin Lessons' by Tom Michell What a great first read of the year. Tom Michell and his tale of him and Juan Salvador, the penguin he rescued from the beach after an oil slick. The smuggling him through the borders from Uruguay to Argentina. Nursing him back to health and Juan living with him on the college campus. making friends with all the boys, becoming the rugby team mascot and finally getting to swim. I just loved it all. It was lovely written and it made me smile throughout. 5/5 (recommend....I just love penguins)
