BookBee8 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Urgh, I know, I saw those pictures too. They seem to be smoking in most pictures of them. True, it will definitely be focused on Jacob and the tribe but I'm hoping towards the end that the Cullens are included a lot more too. And: That awful wig! But he does get it cut halfway through so we won't have to endure it for long.
lexiepiper Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I hope so, it's so awful, and darn it, I really want to read the books now
BookBee8 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I was thinking exactly the same thing! But I have far too many to get through and not enough time to re-read any at the moment.
lexiepiper Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Yeah I have so many new ones to read, plus other bookrings to read, but I'm thinking about how I can slip them in I might read them alongside other books, but I know realistically anything else would get put to the side
BookBee8 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Yep! They're so addictive that they would be all I would read. How many times have you read them? And when did your first read them? I can't believe Twilight was released in 2005!
lexiepiper Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I first read Twilight in May 08 and have read Twilight ~ 4 New Moon ~ 3 Eclipse ~ 3 Breaking Dawn ~ 3 And that was just from May - Dec last year I've yet to read them again this year, how about you?
BookBee8 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Wow! I've read them all twice. I first read them in Nov 08! I was on Waterstones and clicked on the 'Customers who bought this title also buy...' as I was buying Double Cross (Fourth book in the Noughts & Crosses series). I saw Twilight, read the blurb and thought it sounded ****! But I decided to give it a go after reading one review which was your average Twilight fangirl response. I had no idea they were as huge as they are.
lexiepiper Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 No I didn't either, I have a friend on Livejournal, which is like a blog/community place, and she was talking about them, and said I should give them a go, so I thought well I have nothing to lose, I was in a major reading funk and had read barely anything all year and they really got me back into loving my reading She was the one who told me to read Bitten too, and that series is awesome aswell
Nollaig Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I started reading 3 weeks prior to movie. Twilight - 1.5 New Moon - 1 Eclipse - 1 Breaking Dawn - 1 I had heard a little about them, but it was actually the movie trailer that made me go read them. I also still adore the movie, I don't care what anyone says, as such movies go, it's great.
DanC_84 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I first read Twilight in May 08 and have readTwilight ~ 4 New Moon ~ 3 Eclipse ~ 3 Breaking Dawn ~ 3 And that was just from May - Dec last year I've yet to read them again this year, how about you? Good god. Do you nearly know them by heart now? I have read them each once and enjoyed them. I don't usually read books twice. If I did, I think I would have to wait for a fairly long period of time before I tackled them again.
BookBee8 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I think Twilight kind of did that for me as well. They were different to anything I've ever tried and along with joining BCF, it kind of opened my eyes to lots of new genres. I've been reading and buying loads since then! I'm yet to read Bitten! I will soon. EDIT- Didn't see Dan and Roxi's post. I love the movie too Roxi, but mainly because I'm obsessed, rather than the quality of it. I read the series twice in the space of about a month I think!
lexiepiper Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Good god. Do you nearly know them by heart now? Not yet, but soon my dear man I started reading 3 weeks prior to movie. Twilight - 1.5 New Moon - 1 Eclipse - 1 Breaking Dawn - 1 I had heard a little about them, but it was actually the movie trailer that made me go read them. I also still adore the movie, I don't care what anyone says, as such movies go, it's great. I rewatched the film last week, and I actually liked it more than the first time I saw it, I think the second half of the film is much better than the first half. The part where she walks into biology and edward looks like he's cr*ping himself still makes me laugh hysterically though
BookBee8 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I hate the bit where he says 'You're like a drug to me'. It makes me cringe every time!
Nollaig Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 LMAO yeah. I do love the initial conversation in Biology II though. 'Hello, I'm Edward Cullen.' I always think of Meyer's description of his voice as being velvety, and how amazingly accurate Rob's voice is lmao. I'm so sad.
lexiepiper Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Yeah, on screen they're just not how I imagine them to be :/ I really dislike the bit where Alice just randomly runs up to her and is all *big hugs* "we're going to be great friends" and Jasper is like *stare* ack, it just makes me feel so awkward watching it
BookBee8 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Aww, yeah, I love the second Biology scene too! It is a very awkward film, some scenes are easier to watch than others. Like the baseball scene, that's amazing. I love that.
lexiepiper Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Yeah me too, it's my favourite part of the whole film
Nollaig Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Well I didn't expect much better outta the movie. I think people are too harsh on Kristen though, I think she did well, and I think she and Rob went well together. Alice was pretty badly done in that scene alright though Lex. And the baseball scene is epic. I mean, it saves the entire movie. It's awesome.
bethany725 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I want to comment but I am going to do what my mom always said: If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
BookBee8 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Awwh no, join in the discussion! Hehe. I've got to admit, I'm one that isn't too fond of Kristen. The only two scenes that she acts with really emotion was the hospital scene and the prom scene. All the rest, she seemed too indifferent. I do think her and Rob have great chemistry but for some reason, it didn't come across that well in the film. In my opinion anyway
Nollaig Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Uh hello, it's *my* job to diss it all the time! But I love the movie. The soundtrack is amazing.
lexiepiper Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Yeah the soundtrack is great, and you're right Katie, they have such amazing chemistry in interviews and stuff, but I don't think you can really see it in the film
Nollaig Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Maybe I'm imagining it. I do that. I get told I read WAY too much into the characterisation in Sweeney Todd.
BookBee8 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I like the soundtrack too! Exactly, if they could bring that to the screen then that would be great!
