Considering there is a Twilight social group set up, do you think it could please be used for photos, discussion of the actors etc. I don't mind discussion about how the movie compares to the book, but the rest is better suited to the group. Thanks :irked:

WHoops.

That's twice now.

Sorry Michelle :irked:

Books - Much as I'm enjoying the 1st book, I'm finding it harder to get through the second time than the first time. I don't really know why, I just can't make myself read much of it at any given time.

I think that I enjoyed it more on the second (and third) reads. I couldn't put it down the first time that I read it so I rushed through it whereas I take my time now.

Sorry, Michelle.

I haven't read through the books for a second time yet, but I have a feeling if I did I'd be skipping bits for some reason. Hopefully one of these days I'll find a cheap copy of Breaking Dawn (since I haven't even read that one yet) and will complete the series.

I was going to wait for a cheap copy of Breaking Dawn, but I couldn't! I'm so impatient!!!

So I watched the movie tonight with a couple of my friends, and it really started to get on my nerves all the stuff that I thought was important in the book that they left out of the movie! I've only watched the movie once without the commentary on, so I must just not have noticed. The meadow parts took a back seat, and we got to see what, maybe 3 serious conversations between the two? And where the heck were the rest of the kissing scenes, man?! Ah well, I know that can't take everything from page to screen...

I AGREE! :irked:

That is all.

The first time I read the series I read them really fast as I really enjoyed it. I wanted to know what was going to happen next, and I guess my crush on Edward helped a bit with the pace as well :irked:

I've recently read them for a second time now, and I didn't like it as much. It could be because I knew what was going to happen so I wasn't suprised anymore, but the characters also let me down this time. The first time round I cried during New Moon, even though

Edward leaving Bella

was really obvious and I knew straight after the party it was going to happen, but I still cried like a baby!! The second time reading it I didn't feel anything at all, which was strange because I still cry at The Lion King, every single time Simba finds Mufassa!

I also found that I didn't like Edward as much. Sometimes I wanted to scream at him and tell him to stop being such a jerk and control freak! I really did like Jacob a lot more the second time! New Moon is now a favourite :( - but I still think that Jacob needs to grow up

Oops, I thought anything Twilight Saga related could go in here. :irked: Sorry!

I don't have much to say about the books that I haven't already said at least three times. I didn't like Jacob or New Moon any better the second time...and I liked Jacob more in Breaking Dawn. :(

Turns out I'm not so patient either, Kimmy! :irked: I found a pretty decently-priced copy today and could not control myself. I started reading when I got home and am now at Part 2. I need serious help... LOL

I felt the same way as you about Jacob in New Moon, Bee, so we'll see what I think of him in this one.

You have done so well to wait this long! I read it in one day - think my b/f thought that I had moved out as I stayed in the bedroom reading for hours and hours....

LOL I did that with #2 and 3, Kimmy! I'm almost halfway through this last one now, and I'm trying to slow down, since I know it's the last! When I was at Easter dinner today I found someone even older than me who loves them so now I don't feel so odd about being in my 30's and loving these books. Plus, I have someone to go to the new movie with me in November, woo-hoo! She and her daughter are both on the 2nd book now and cannot get enough, lol.

I used to love the books very much. I was addicted the first time I read them. I read the first book like, 5 times much to my embarassment. I was a HUGE fan. I was so stoked for the movie, but when I saw it I just didn't like anything to do with Twilight anymore. It was such a let down for me, I was ashamed that I actually LIKED the books in the first place. :irked:

I didn't like the movie much either, but I still love the books :irked: Just kind of treat them as different things that's how I do it, I'm hoping with a different director that New Moon will be much better, but then again, with no Edward.... :)

Actually, there's a thing to look forward to. Not much Robert Pattinson in the next movie! YAAAAAAAAAAY. Gosh, I dunno if I could take his acting any longer. It was just so... :irked: I don't get it. In HP4, he was an okay actor but in Twilight it didn't seem like he knew what he was doing at all!

Oh wait. Not much Rob means more Kristen. Her acting's pretty bad too. Stuttering, not knowing what she was doing, fiddling alot. :)

Morning All - I read Twilight about 2 weeks ago, loved it, great. I then bought New Moon - and can I get into it? Nope. Have I jumped in too soon? I have found the first 20 or so pages hugely depressing also, so have put it down for now and picked up something totally different. Anyone else had this happen?

I found it depressing, yeah, and really really long because of...obvious reasons. But I couldn't put it down, because I couldn't wait to know how it turned out. I didn't tune out of it or anything.

I felt the same way in New Moon - too much Jacob for my liking! But stick with it, it gets better! I read all books in less than a week - I was totally addicted!

With regard to the film - I do like the film, not as much as I like the books though obviously. I think of the books and the films as 2 different things. I like RP in the movie, wasn't too keen on Kristen though as her voice grated on me a little. Kristen has started to grow on me though, she really looks the part.

Yeah, she's okay, appearance-wise. That's all you're gonna get from me. And with the movie, now, whenever I hear Twilight, i think of the terrible things they did to the film, not of the books I fell in love with. :irked: The film just ruined it all for me. I think they got pretty much everything wrong, the casting, the acting, the script, the setting. Not just what's supposed to be in it, and what's not. Its the whole production of it all that I just don't like. :)

Thats the problem with moving things from the page to the screen, things get missed. Some important things were missed in my opinion - Edward didn't appear to struggle as much with the physical contact like he did in the book. Do you think that you would have liked the film had you not read the book?!

Posted

No, I think I wouldn't have liked it either. Like I said, it was just the things that weren't there that bugged me. It was everything else. The script could've been better I think. And it was too much Edward and Bella and Edward and Bella and Edward and Bella that there wasn't time for everyone else. They didn't even show that Bella and Alice were friends at all, or that Bella didn't like Rosalie very much. They didn't build any of the other relationships much.

I'm not sure. There were some cool bits in the film, like the fight scene and the baseball scene (and RP!), but I dunno...the books were way more exciting in my opinion.

I read Twilight in a couple of days, and was still on a Twilight high when I read New Moon the next day, so I forgave the first part of the book, but stick with it, it does definitely get better. As you haven't read it yet, I won't give away anything, but when I re-read the series I do tend to skim read the opening of this book, so I can get to the good bits more quickly!

I think the Baseball Scene was pretty bad. The effects were just plain ridiculous. I mean, that part where Emmett and Edward like, collide into each other was just...I laughed alot actually. :irked:
