Lumo Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Has anyone read an autobiography or biography that they thought was an especially good read or left a lasting impression? It's a genre I have not read very often, however, recently I have read a few and found the description of a life very different to mine interesting to read. Therefore, I'm not too concerned about the theme (discoverer, business person, politician, soldier, monarch) but am looking for one which gives great insight into the life of the person the book is about. Any ideas?
poppy Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 (edited) My most favourite autobiography is 'My Family and Other Animals' by Gerald Durrell which tells of his idyllic childhood on the Greek Island of Corfu. He has the most eccentric family and surrounds himself with a huge array of wayward animals and critters. It is delightfully written and very funny. In case you haven't heard of Durrell, he later went on to be a well-known naturalist, conservationist and author. Edited October 8, 2011 by poppy
