I loved the gun training sequence! Cpt Jack was SOOOOOOOOO hot all through that bit! *swoon* He can give me some gun training any time he likes!

Posted

Eww, no! It was sleazy, and not nice at all. She should have got him for sexual harrassment in the workplace! :)

(I do actually fancy John Barrowman, but that sequence was just yukky.)

I'm getting more and more disillusioned with this...

Episode 4 - the Cyberwoman one. What a wasted opportunity! It should have been brilliant, but it wasn't. I'm not quite sure why it's not working for me, as I so desperately want to like this series, but after the first two eps it's gone downhill for me.

Things I didn't like about the last episode:

The way the Torchwood team just seemed so idiotic, running about like headless chickens. Need to escape quickly because there's a cyberwoman trying to kill you? Just stand there watching it approach for five minutes, wait until it's almost up to you and then try to unlock the blast door. Don't worry, you'll have plenty of time. :smile2: It seems to me that the team are great at looking cool and posing, but the minute a genuine threat appeared in the Hub, they hadn't a clue what to do about it.

Also, there was no mention of the fate of the unfortunate pizza delivery girl - they didn't seem to care at all that she'd been horribly killed.

I also didn't like the acting from the guy who plays Ianto Jones, he was a bit hammy.

On the plus side, er... Oh yes -

the bit where Gwen was almost "upgraded" had tension and was scary.

I'm not actually a fan of Ianto at all - he just strikes me as a bit of a fifth wheel on the team - the one that stays behind in the office, orders the pizza & makes the coffee - he's just incredibly dull.

I agree about the

stupid door bit - that was pants, as was the headless chicken-ness

but I thought it was generally a good romp & much better than the most recent season of Dr Who (which I thought was generally lacklustre & increasingly pointless - I very much doubt I'll be watching the next season as I really don't like Tennant as the Dr at all!).

Still looking forward to the next episode though - I'm very interested in seeing how it develops.

Plus, there seems to be an awful lot of sexual tension between Gwen & pretty much all the male characters, which seems a bit odd for someone who has a boyfriend waiting at home. I mean, i can understand her fancying Jack (what's NO to fancy there, eh?) but

what was with getting all hot & heavy with Owen in the drawer? I know he kissed her first, but she didn't exactly resist, did she?

Yeah, when they introduced him as "the cleaner" I thought they meant cleaner as in the film Nikita (ie someone who cleans up the mess/bodies) rather than a Mrs Mopp, but it seems to be the latter! I thought he would turn out to be very dangerous and intense, but not so far.

You don't like Tennant?! Sacrilege! :smile2:

I agree. As you say, the Jack attraction is understandable (!) but Ianto... I took it to be an "opposites attract" kind of thing, where they have a love/hate relationship that will probably develop... But yes, she seems to fancy every bloke she sees, apart from her poor neglected boyfriend!

As for

the bit in the drawer, I guess she put up with it because she couldn't make a noise as they were hiding for their lives. But can I just mention that I really, really hate the plot device of a mobile phone going off and alerting the bad guy to the good guys' hiding place. It happens way too often.

Still, I will keep watching. I just wish it would be as good as it could be.

Only read the opening post to this thread, this show hasn't been "relegated" to BBC3, I think it was always intended to be shown on BBC3 as the channel is aimed at a maturer age group. However it is repeated Wednesdays on BBC2, as already pointed out.

I really like this series, I hope it does get another series. The most cynical of Doctor Who fans label it as Doctor Who with swearing just to highlight that the show is aimed for an adult audience, which is a load of rubbish if you ask me, not one reference has been made to Doctor Who throughout the series apart from the speculation about the severed arm in the glass jar that Captain Jack protects so avidly.

Sorry if I've missed any other important points in this thread :smile2:

Well, this week's episode with the "evil fairies" was an improvement on the Cyberwoman one (but almost anything would have been).

I think it was written by PJ Hammond, who wrote for Sapphire and Steel, a show I always liked. This was probably my second favourite ep so far, with good acting from the little girl who played Jasmine. Torchwood seemed completely ineffectual as usual!

It was a refreshing change that

the "good guys" didn't win for once, though.

Just watched tonight's episode.

Cannibals? Made a change that it wasn't aliens this time though, so that was refreshing. But Gwen & Owen??? Why would she go for him out of all the Torchwood Totty??? Is she blind? There's Jack right there looking incredibly hot &, well, I'll not voice my naughty thoughts here, & yet she's jumping into bed Owen. Even Ianto is better looking. Heck, even her own BOYFRIEND is better looking! The mind boggles!

Ah well, still rather enjoyed it.:smile2:

I'm DYING to see Torchwood - I rather fancy the pants off Captain Jack, but that is only a small part of the reason. I promise.

Er me too Kell, but I have been too scared to admit that in company!, I have been really enjoying Torchwood so far, I particularly enjoyed the episode about the fairies, I liked the idea.:smile2:

I'm getting behind with Torchwood, as I can't find time to watch it! If I try in the day, Amy looks at it, and says, "oh.. scary!", and once I catch up with I'm a Celebrity, I have no evening left!

And I'm not afraid to admit it.. I think Captain Jack is HOT!! :smile2::lol:

You go Michelle! :smile2:

Gwen and Owen - ewwwwwwwwwwwwww

Me too - it actually started a spark in my head about a possible story, actually. Not directly to do with fairies, but kind of indirectly, in a round-about, barely glancing off the subject kind of way - it was more the tone of it that got my brain ticking over...

Well I look forward to reading it Kell..

Ps For all of us Captain Jack Fans...

Ooh, I was actually quite impressed with last night's episode (Countrycide). Great title!

The team were much less annoying than usual, and the story had lots of tension. Plus only one or two ropey bits of dialogue. I think this was my second favourite episode so far, after the pilot which I loved.

One thing my brother pointed out though, which I hadn't thought of -

towards the beginning of the ep, we glimpsed extremely fast-moving shapes which suggested some alien killer. But it then turned out to be the normal villagers doing the killing. How did they move so fast, if they were ordinary human beings?

Anyway, 8.5 out of 10 from me!

I'm afraid I disagree..

the episode started well, with lots of tension.. but it should have been aliens. making it human cannibals was quite disturbing, it was like a strange horror film, rather than an episode of Torchwood.

Did anyone see similarities between the episode, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Especially the bit where the 'rescuer' (the policeman) turns out to also be a baddie.

I found it very similar Michelle, not the most original of concepts and quite unsettling..

especially the head farmer, to me, very frightening

I haven't seen that film, so that's probably why its unoriginality didn't bother me.

It was a hundred times better than this week's, the one with Tosh and the alien pendant. That was so dull I nearly fell asleep. I thought it might have been more interesting if they had played it from the angle that

Tosh gets "addicted" to using the pendant and the power it gives the wearer, leading to problems within Torchwood and Captain Jack having to act to sort it out. Instead, there was no tension. Jack was hardly in the episode, and I got mightily sick of hearing Gwen and whatsisname's one track thoughts.

Extremely boring.

Why isn't everyone discussing the finale.. I loved it! I thought it was really well done, had some powerful scenes, and the ending was great! Roll on Dr Who, so we can see what happens when he meets his doctor again! ;)

(Ok, I'm going to bed now.. hopefully for some very sweet Captain Jack dreams!)

I hadn't been planning on watching the next season of Dr Who as I thought the last one was terrible, but now, with the possibility of a link between it & Torchwood, I might have to have a look at it. The finale was fantastic!

While I love the whole Torchwood thing I find myself screaming at the TV everytime they mess something up.

In the pilot episode Owen was using some kind of alien date rape drug to get women that was a great start. The whole team thing seems to have gone downhill from there and it ends up with them all revolting against their leader and ending the world, after a fashion, then their esteemed leader saves the day and forgives their evil plotting then naffs off in a TARDIS.

Needless to say I'm reading far too much into it. But Gwen's use of firearms after a night's training with Captain jack and the whole team's lack of basic firearms safety is bad.

I know they have no official chain of command to report to and maybe this is the problem and reason they think they can cruise round the city trashin crime scenes and not following proper evidence custody requirements or even writing basic reports on things.

Grr.

Other than that I really like Captain Jack's coat
