Shin
I am slowly reading The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. I started this a year ago and I wondered why I stopped reading it. It is a hard storyline.
Ilona
^Loved that book, but it took me a while to get through it as well. I'm still working on House of Leaves - I'm continually distracted by the internet and never get to my reading anymore. I think I'll pick it up while I wait for something to install. Kylie
I have finished reading Aldous Huxley's After the Fireworks. It was interesting book; a little dull in places and thought-provoking in others. I'll be starting on Flowers for Algernon shortly. Can't wait to read this one. Yesterday I ordered a copy of Russell Hoban's Riddley Walker, thanks to Chrissy's recommendation. It sounds awesome.
Peacefield
I finished The Swan Thieves yesterday and posted my thoughts. I decided to read The Blackstone Key by Rose Melikan next and am hoping to get a chunk read tonight, providing I don't fall asleep since I was up at 5 this morning . frankie
You're incorrigible Frankie! Now that I've just finished Macbeth and really enjoyed it, I might get myself the Sonnets as well. I'll be interested in your thoughts on Timequake. I really wasn't very impressed with it. Tihii! Nice to hear you enjoyed Macbeth and might be getting the Sonnets! I don't know about you but plays and poetry are a totally new zone for me, it's nice that after all these reading years there's still so much unknown ground. Too bad you didn't like Timequake though. Have you enjoyed Vonnegut's other stuff? I've only read Slaughterhouse 5 which I absolutely loved, and I'm really interested in reading anything by Vonnegut right now. Ooh and I see you're going to start Flowers for Algernon, so cool! I think you might enjoy it a lot! I have to restart reading it myself as well. And oh boy what about that Casino Royale? Well, at some point... But Kylie I'm not incorrigible, you are mistaken! Just yesterday I took Stephen King's Cell to the free book trolley at the library, having decided that I don't want to read it because so many bad reviews I've read about it. That was one book off the TBR! Also, I'm soon finished with my Ann Rule book and I'm going to give that to a true crime fan friend of mine... So I do give away, as well as hoard... Will be getting the next one in the series soon. My sister's leant me a true story called How Could She? and I don't think I want to read it, stuff like that always makes me cry. Nollaig
Charm I said a slap not a boot up the backside! Man I was sooooooo bold today. "Ah I'll just have a quick look in Waterstones." *20 minutes and €36 euro later* "Four books?!?! How did THAT happen?!! *Sigh* Still, I got two that have been on my Wishlist since last year, one that went on the other day, and a....completely gratuitous one which I cannot justify. I bought: Vlad - C. C. Humphreys Something Wicked This Way Comes - Ray Bradbury World War Z - Max Brooks Salem's Lot (Illustrated Edition*) - Stephen King So I'm quite happy with my unintended haul. *Illustrated apparently meaning: - With 50 pages of 'deleted scenes' - A new introduction by Stevo himself - And two original short stories - Apparently brought to life by some photos. I couldn't resist! Charm, I think I may be needing that boot after all

tunn300
Read about 80 pages this morning of Relentless by William Boys and finished it. A really good read. I have now started Sacred Hearts by Sarah Dunant. Read about 50 pages so far and can't believe how much I am enjoying it. I only got the book as it was on the TV bookclub list which I vowed to read all of to try and diversify my reading. Normally there is no way I would pick up a book like this , even to read to read the blurb. But so far so good.
Nollaig
I bought that Salems Lot edition as well Noll, got to say i wasn't that impressed Well since I didn't actually own a copy of the book itself prior to buying this, I'm certainly not losing anything
ned
Ah, well that's ok then, i was one of those people who was taken in by the "bonus material" thing even though i already had the book.
Nollaig
I'd rarely buy a book JUST for that, but if I'm looking for a handy copy of something and I see one with extra funstuffs, I'll grab it. I just read the intro - I really liked it! Makes me want to read the book again right now. I have so many books to read x_x

Nollaig
Any new dino ones? Nooo, I think if I had any more dinostuffs to cross-reference in my note-taking right now my brain would explode. Yes, plays and poetry are new territory for me too! Too bad you didn't like Timequake though. Have you enjoyed Vonnegut's other stuff? I think you might enjoy it a lot! I have to restart reading it myself as well. And oh boy what about that Casino Royale? Well, at some point... I'm already almost halfway through Flowers for Algernon. It's a terrific read and hard to put down! I have one more book to read by the end of the month because it's being reviewed on a book club show here at the beginning of March, but then I plan on dedicating March to quick, light reads, including Casino Royale. But Kylie I'm not incorrigible, you are mistaken! Just yesterday I took Stephen King's Cell to the free book trolley at the library, having decided that I don't want to read it because so many bad reviews I've read about it. Hmm...I still say you're incorrigible! And I mean it in the nicest possible way, of course. I like the word (which I learnt from The Sound of Music) but I rarely find an excuse to use it...
