ned Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Hello Ray Another bloke, look out ladies, we're catching up Quote
Ray Jikan Posted January 13, 2010 Author Posted January 13, 2010 thank you for the greeting! The Japanese language is a very fun language to learn, and it is not as difficult as most people may think. It is definitely more easier to learn than the English language. Firstly, there are not as many words to use for just one simple phrase. The writing characters are also very confusing to look at and appear dreadful at a glance, but they are actually not that difficult to understand. The most difficult part is translating those characters into sounds, for example "Wa-ta-sh-i" and then translating that full word (Watashi) into English (meaning "I"). Quote
Mexicola Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Ah, I see. I've always thought it would be a great language to learn, there's so much you can do with it! Nineteen Eighty-Four is one of my top novels too. I'm sure you'll be right at home here Quote
Ray Jikan Posted January 13, 2010 Author Posted January 13, 2010 thank you, and thanks to everyone that has replied! Quote
Kylie Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Welcome to the forum, Ray! I love 1984 as well, and plan on re-reading it this year. Quote
BigWords Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Hi Ray. Japanese is a lot harder than I thought it would be, but watching Japanese films is a good way to hear the language in context. It doesn't make learning any easier, but it does make it a bit more fun. Quote
