Fiona Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 I found out through someone posting the link on Critiquecircle.com and very thankful I was too. Quote
carm Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 B) i found out about bookforum through librarything and i'm so glad i did!!!! Quote
Karen1 Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 I found a link on Michelle's profile on Amazon which I came across while reading one of her book reviews on there. Quote
vickythemaster Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 I typed "Book Club Forum" on google and clicked the first that appeared. Quote
Oblomov Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 I suddenly realised that I was not a member of any Book forum, and considering that I am an avid reader with a home library, this seemed inappropriate. So I went into Google and searched for UK based forum and here I am. Quote

Oblomov Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 ....and, have your needs been met? On the whole, I'd say, YES. But I wish there was a sub-forum dedicated to non-fiction and also one where you can recommend a specific book to others. Quote
Michelle Posted June 21, 2007 Author Posted June 21, 2007 If that was your email earlier, sorry I haven't had time to reply. I look at everything that's suggested, but at this point I don't want to include any extra subforums unless it's extremely obvious that it's needed. I'm sure various threads on non-fiction would suffice.. if there is interest in a topic, the thread stays near the top, and once the topic wanes, but then new members come, we do encourage them to search. As for recomendations, I think they are sprinkled throughout the forum. I think people read the reviews, the specific author/book section, and members logs to pick up on recomendations. Quote
maclsj Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 I must admit I was enthusing about this site so much my Mum wanted the link because she reckons it sounds exactly the sort of thing to direct people to when they come into the library asking for help choosing books Quote
Michelle Posted June 22, 2007 Author Posted June 22, 2007 We would love to have some promotion in libraries. I keep asking if anyone fancies making some leaflets that people could download from here, just for that sort of occasion.. but we haven't yet found anyone feeling creative enough! Quote

Okay, I'm no artist (as will be apparent!), but maybe this will inspire someone else. Michelle - have you got specific wording in mind? Quote
Michelle Posted June 22, 2007 Author Posted June 22, 2007 No, no specific wording.. although it might be worth mentioning author interviews and discussions, competitions, reading circles etc Oh.. and you have the url wrong! Call yourself a moderator?! Quote
Echo Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I found this forum through somebody's blog...just followed the link! Quote
jenmck Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I'm a member of a writer's forum and this was in someone's signature there. I was curious and popped by. I joined up last September, but I haven't had a chance to really explore this forum until now. I love it by the way. Quote
xLorzx Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 I like to read and just wondered if there was a forum out there where I can talk to fellow bookworms and entered into Google and I found you lovely bunch xLorzx Quote
Echo Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 No, no specific wording.. although it might be worth mentioning author interviews and discussions, competitions, reading circles etc Oh.. and you have the url wrong! Call yourself a moderator?! Would you be interested in possibly advertising in some libraries over here, or just in the U.K.? In any event, I would love to try and compose a flier of some sort for you! I'm not in school until August, so I need something creative to do. I've done a few in the past when I was a retail manager, you know, things to promote the store. I could try it out and email it to you. Quote

Worldwide domination, erm I mean promotion would be a great thing for The Book Club Forum - we'd love it if you did some stuff! Quote
Michelle Posted July 4, 2007 Author Posted July 4, 2007 I'd like to advertise anywhere! The joy of the internet is that anyone can make a flier or poster, I can put it on the site for others to download, and so it can be used anywhere! So, yes please. Quote
Echo Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 I will try to get something done this week. If you don't like it, feel free to fix it up or throw it out! Thanks!! Quote
