Raven
I haven't posted this in the JA 2008 section as I don't want to run into spoilers, but I've just picked up a copy of Persuasion and when I started thumbing through it, its original end-plates suggest it is coupled with Northanger Abbey. Are the two related, and if they are is it preferable to have read one before the other, and in which order?
Kylie
As I recall, there is no connection between the two. It isn't necessary to read one before the other.
Echo
None of Jane Austen's books are connected. I've often found Persuasion together with Northanger Abbey (I have a leather-bound copy of the two), mainly because they're the shortest. You can read her books in any order you like! Raven
Thanks gals! I thought that was the case, but the cover plate threw me somewhat!
tdaonp
Maybe it was a way of promoting her other books? The advertisement was left in for authenticity's sake? Henk (tdaonp)
Kell
They are often published together because they were the ones published after her death.
frankie
They are often published together because they were the ones published after her death. Ah! I would've figured it was because they are the shortest of her novels Makes sense.
