pipread
I absolutely adore this song, and there's something special in the way Josh Groban sings it in particular I find Oh yes! Josh Groban has an incredible voice and he really does do justice to Vincent.

Vanwa
I thought "Weeping" with BLM was very cleverly written. I love the way he sings metaphorically about a monster
pipread
Yes, I wasn`t sure of that one at first, but it grew on me. The lyrics are cleverly done.

pipread
Are we gonna have to get a Josh Groban thread in here just for the two of us? Good idea! There used to be another fan of his on here, I remember talking to her about him ages ago. We could try to recruit a few more members, he can never have too many fans. Peacefield
I've been listening to a lot of Bon Iver this afternoon and love this one- Re: Stacks This my excavation and today is kumran Everything that happens is from now on This is pouring rain This is paralyzed I keep throwing it down two-hundred at a time It's hard to find it when you knew it When your money's gone And you're drunk as hell On your back with your racks as the stacks are your load In the back and the racks and the stacks of your load In the back with your racks and you're un-stacking your load Well I've been twisting to the sun and the moon I needed to replace The fountain in the front yard is rusted out All my love was down In a frozen ground There's a black crow sitting across from me His wiry legs are crossed He is dangling my keys, he even fakes a toss Whatever could it be That has brought me to this loss? On your back with your racks as the stacks are your load In the back and the racks and the stacks of your load In the back with your racks and you're un-stacking your load This is not the sound of a new man or crispy realization It's the sound of the unlocking and the lift away Your love will be Safe with me
ned
I've always liked the lyrics in this Alanis Morissette – One Hand In My Pocket I’m broke but I’m happy, I’m poor but I’m kind, I’m short but I’m healthy, yeah, I’m high but I’m grounded, I’m sane but I’m overwhelmed, I’m lost but I’m hopeful baby And what it all comes down to, Is that everything’s gonna be fine, fine, fine, ‘Cos I got one hand in my pocket and the other is giving a high five I feel drunk but I’m sober, I’m young and I’m underpaid, I’m tired but I’m working, yeah, I care but I’m restless, I’m here but I’m really gone, I’m wrong and I’m sorry baby And what it all comes down to, Is that everything’s gonna be quite alright ‘Cos I got one hand in my pocket and the other is flicking a cigarette And what it all comes down to, Is that I haven’t got it all figured out just yet, ‘Cos I got one hand in my pocket and the other is giving a peace sign I’m free but I’m focused, I’m green but I’m wise, I’m hard but I’m friendly baby, I’m sad but I’m laughing, I’m brave but I’m chicken ****, I’m sick but I’m pretty baby And what it all boils down to, Is that no one’s really got it figured out just yet, But I’ve got one hand in my pocket and the other is playing piano And what it all comes down to my friends, Is that everything’s gonna be fine, fine, fine, ‘Cos I got one hand in my pocket and the other is hailing a taxi cab
Nollaig
"And if all the world was beautiful I would Only ever wanna see your scars, You know they can have their universe, We'll be in the dirt designing stars. And if all the world was smiling I would Only ever wanna see your frown, You know they can sail away in sunsets We'll be right here stranded on the ground, Just happy to be found.' missybct
"Fools on parade cavort and carry on For waiting eyes That you would rather be beside than in front of But she's never been the kind to be hollowed by the stares She swam out of tonight's phantasm Grabbed my hand and made it very clear There's absolutely nothing for us here"
Dimitra
You've Got The Love Sometimes I feel like throwing my hands up in the air I know I can count on you Sometimes I feel like saying "Lord I just don't care" But you've got the love I need To see me through Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough And things go wrong no matter what I do Now and then it seems that life is just too much But you've got the love I need to see me through When food is gone you are my daily meal When friends are gone I know my savior's love is real Your love is real You got the love (x6) Time after time I think "Oh Lord what's the use?" Time after time I think it's just no good Sooner or later in life, the things you love you loose But you got the love I need to see me through You got the love (x12) Sometimes I feel like throwing my hands up in the air I know I can count on you Sometimes I feel like saying "Lord I just don't care" But you've got the love I need to see me through
CrazyBlade
Nine Inch Nails - The Only Time "i'm drunk. and right now i'm so in love with you. and i don't want to think too much about what we should or shouldn't do. lay my hands on Heaven and the sun and the moon and the stars. while the devil wants to f**k me in the back of his car. " Nine Inch Nails - Something I Can Never Have "In this place it seems like such a shame. Though it all looks different now, I know it's still the same Everywhere I look you're all I see. Just a fading f**king reminder of who I used to be." Two of my favourite songs of all time, and both have immense meaning to me.
BigWords
Pretty much anything by The Incredible String Band contains amazing lyrics. Naturally, the music itself has the power to divide people sharply, but the lyrics are beautiful. For anyone too young to have heard them, they are like Marmite - you'll love the songs or hate them. There is no middle ground.
AbielleRose
One of the songs with the most powerful lyrics I've heard is Gravity by Sara Bareilles. Its a song about addiction that really pulls at my heart every time I hear it. Something always brings me back to you. It never takes too long. No matter what I say or do I’ll still feel you here ’til the moment I’m gone. You hold me without touch. You keep me without chains. I never wanted anything so much than to drown in your love and not feel your rain. Set me free, leave me be. I don’t want to fall another moment into your gravity. Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I’m supposed to be. But you’re on to me and all over me. You loved me ’cause I’m fragile. When I thought that I was strong. But you touch me for a little while and all my fragile strength is gone. Set me free, leave me be. I don’t want to fall another moment into your gravity. Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I’m supposed to be. But you’re on to me and all over me. I live here on my knees as I try to make you see that you’re everything I think I need here on the ground. But you’re neither friend nor foe though I can’t seem to let you go. The one thing that I still know is that you’re keeping me down Your keeping me down, Your on to me, your on to me and all over Something always brings me back to you It never takes to long. Pablo
"Everything that happens is from now on..." Although I don't think I've sat down and listened to any Bon Iver, it has to be said - that's a great lyric right there. For me there are too many to mention here, but off the top of my head: "In the time of chimpanzee's I was a monkey" - Beck (Loser) "Why pamper life's complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?" - The Smiths (This Charming Man)

Mexicola
Basically anything by The Smiths, but this song in particular: Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head And as I climb into an empty bed Oh well. Enough said. I know it's over - still I cling I don't know where else I can go Oh ... Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head See, the sea wants to take me The knife wants to slit me Do you think you can help me ? Sad veiled bride, please be happy Handsome groom, give her room Loud, loutish lover, treat her kindly (Though she needs you More than she loves you) And I know it's over - still I cling I don't know where else I can go Over and over and over and over Over and over, la ... I know it's over And it never really began But in my heart it was so real And you even spoke to me, and said : "If you're so funny Then why are you on your own tonight ? And if you're so clever Then why are you on your own tonight ? If you're so very entertaining Then why are you on your own tonight ? If you're so very good-looking Why do you sleep alone tonight ? I know ... 'Cause tonight is just like any other night That's why you're on your own tonight With your triumphs and your charms While they're in each other's arms..." It's so easy to laugh It's so easy to hate It takes strength to be gentle and kind Over, over, over, over It's so easy to laugh It's so easy to hate It takes guts to be gentle and kind Over, over Love is Natural and Real But not for you, my love Not tonight, my love Love is Natural and Real But not for such as you and I, my love Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my ... -I Know It's Over, The Smiths
Stephanie2008
When The Man Comes Around - Johnny Cash. And I heard as it were the noise of thunder One of the four beasts saying come and see and I saw And behold a white horse Song There's a man going around taking names And he decides who to free and who to blame Everybody won't be treated all the same There'll be a golden ladder reaching down When the Man comes around The hairs on your arm will stand up At the terror in each sip and in each sup Will you partake of that last offered cup? Or disappear into the potter's ground When the Man comes around Hear the trumpets, hear the pipers One hundred million angels singing Multitudes are marching to the big kettledrum Voices calling, voices crying Some are born and some are dying It's Alpha and Omega's kingdom come And the whirlwind is in the thorn tree The virgins are all trimming their wicks The whirlwind is in the thorn tree It's hard for thee to kick against the pricks Till Armageddon no shalam, no shalom Then the father hen will call his chickens home The wise man will bow down before the throne And at His feet they'll cast their golden crowns When the Man comes around Whoever is unjust let him be unjust still Whoever is righteous let him be righteous still Whoever is filthy let him be filthy still Listen to the words long written down When the Man comes around Hear the trumpets, hear the pipers One hundred million angels singing Multitudes are marching to the big kettledrum Voices calling and voices crying Some are born and some are dying It's Alpha and Omega's kingdom come And the whirlwind is in the thorn tree The virgins are all trimming their wicks The whirlwind is in the thorn tree It's hard for thee to kick against the pricks In measured hundred weight and penney pound When the Man comes around. Close (Spoken part) And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts And I looked and behold, a pale horse And his name that sat on him was Death And Hell followed with him. Nollaig
Oh, the tongues of men and angels I speak but lack love. Oh, love, will I stab you in the back? How can I go with mine instead of yours When yours is always right I'm sorry, just pour into me love. Here I am, dear Lord, tasting hints of fame And I don't want it anymore If it's not you that I gain Wanna fall at your feet Don't wanna fall from your peace I understand. - Of Men And Angels, The Rocket Summer. I'm slightly obsessed with this song. It's fabulous.

BookJumper
Some of my favourite lyrics are from Italian songs; I'll translate for your convenience : Chiedi Chi Erano i Beatles (Ask Who The Beatles Were) - Stadio You that played them on record players, shouted their names You that listened to them and waited for them, burned them and then forgot about them You need to teach me in every way, not just with words Just who were these Beatles, just who were these Beatles? Rawr
Meat-eating orchids forgive no one just yet, Cut myself on angel's hair and baby's breath. Broken hymen of your highness, I'm left black. Throw down your umbilical noose, so I can climb right back. - Heart Shaped Box, Kurt Cobain I've seen the needle And the damage done, A little part of it in everyone, But every junkie's like a setting sun. - Needle and the Damage Done, Neil Young Edited March 6, 2010 by Rawr
