How can I resist throwing a pic up here, when some of it's components are known as Blobs? :giggle2: Here are Space Blobs!

The notes that appear with this shot taken by the Hubble Telescope say this...

Explanation: No, they are not alive -- but they are dying. The unusual blobs found in the Carina nebula, some of which are seen floating on the upper right, might best be described as
. Energetic light and winds from nearby stars are breaking apart the dark dust grains that make the iconic forms opaque. Ironically the blobs, otherwise known as dark molecular clouds, frequently create in their midst the very stars that later destroy them.

It's hard to believe that these are photographs and not an illustration from a Science Fiction story. Ain't the universe wonderful?

I am astounded by some of the photographs as I look at them and think "That's actually out there!"

There are not enough words to describe just how cool that is.

You all are posting some amazingly beautiful photos. And for some to think that we are the only living things in the Universe. :)

I had a sudden image in my mind of the character Martin in the Simpsons, when seeking votes for class president. "Keep watching the skies!". :giggle2:

Thanks Mr Raven sir, I will look out for the shower.

Strange that you should post that in here Steve, as that's why I popped in. If I may, I quote his family's request,

“For those who may ask what they can do to honor Neil, we have a simple request. Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink.”

What a lovely request. Rest In Peace Neil Armstrong.
