Midget Gem
I wondered if anyone had any suggestions for a keeping a Book Journal. I've seen several on the market at varying prices and different styles. Any recommendations?

Janet
That's lovely, Nici. Are you disciplined enough to keep it going though? I really regret letting mine slip - I might try to start it again.
Midget Gem
Thanks. I'll take a look.
Nici
Janet I only started using it this year but yes I am going to keep it going!
Janet
There is one here which is by the same company, Nici, but a different design. You can search inside - does this look like yours?
Nici
No that one is different Janet. I did see that one but didn't really like it! It took me ages to find the perfect one lol! I'll try and find a good link now.
Kell
I'm thinking of getting THIS one for myself now!
Nici
That one was my second choice Kell!
BookBee8
I'm thinking of getting THIS one for myself now! Wow, I love that! At the moment I keep everything on the computer but I think there's something special about things being handwritten. I think I might buy that! Thanks! EDIT - Just bought the one that you have Nici from Play.com. You lot are such a bad influence, I come on here to check the posts and end up spending money without leaving the house! Looks great though.. Edited February 5, 2009 by BookBee8
Janet
I was just pondering over that one too, Kell. It looks really nice.
Ben
That's lovely Kell. I think I'd love to keep a book journal.
lexiepiper
Ohh I like the look of these, might get one to keep a hand written track
Andaira
Wow, I had never seen these! Or perhaps I haven't been looking hard enough. But they certainly would be valuable to have (at least one) around just in case. I'll see if they sell them at my bookstore--they should --when I visit tomorrow. The Library Nook
I have tried and failed at keeping a written record of my books so, as my mobile is giving up, I have ordered a new G1 phone, a bit like an iPhone but runs on the new Android OS. I am very excited!
kernow_reader
I've managed to keep a Book Journal for years ~ but only cause I'm older than most of you on here I have used specific Book Journals but nowadays just use a hardback notebook. I've also kept a quote book for about 20 years.

chesilbeach
There are some lovely notebooks available in bookshops and stationers - my local Borders has a Paperchase shop in it with a gorgeous selection of notebooks. These can be better than a specific book journal for some people, as you're not limited to the format of the record you write for each book. Another alternative is to buy a selection of postcards, and record each book on a single card, then store them in whatever order you like in a index card box. Or why not do what lots of people do (including many of us on this forum!) - use a blog to record the books they read.
Chimera
Another alternative is to buy a selection of postcards, and record each book on a single card, then store them in whatever order you like in a index card box. That's a really nice idea! I'd love to do that. Or why not do what lots of people do (including many of us on this forum!) - use a blog to record the books they read. But I already do this, plus I have my blog thread on here, the lists on goodreads and an excel spreadsheet on my computer... It's already too much to update regularly! chesilbeach
If you go with the postcard option, you can also use them as book marks and write notes on them as you go if you want.
BookBee8
I have one! Here's a piccie: It is made by Ryland Peters and Small. It is just perfect and gorgeous! I got mine from W H Smiths for under
lexiepiper
This arrived today in the post. It's so beautiful and arty! I almost didn't wanna write in it! I recommend that anyone that wants one, gets this one . It's got sections for recommended reads, reading notes, books read, favourite quotes and books borrowed and lent. Could I be naughty and ask for some pics of the inside? I love the look of it, but not sure if the inside is something I'm going to like
BookBee8
For some reason, I couldn't put the pictures on here so I added them to my album on my profile.
