Suburbanite
Director Ridley Scott has signed up to produce the big screen remake of 1980s TV show The A-Team, according to industry paper Variety. The film, due out in 2010, will be updated so that the army veterans will have fought in the Middle East and not in Vietnam, Variety adds. It says Joe Carnahan will direct and hopes to make a "popcorn movie" that "reflects on the real world". The cult TV show starred George Peppard as Hannibal and Mr T as BA Baracus. Dirk Benedict, as Face, and Dwight Schultz, as Murdoch, completed the quartet of mercenaries "accused of a crime they didn't commit". Carnahan said 20th Century Fox had asked him "to make it as emotional, real and accessible as possible without cheesing it up", Variety added. Actors including Bruce Willis and Ice Cube have been rumoured to be on board but no names have been confirmed. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7856758.stm
Kell
From Yahoo news: A-Team film gets green lightBritish director Ridley Scott is set to produce a film version of the hit 1980s TV series The A-Team. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Twentieth Century Fox intends to transform the series into a blockbuster summer film and is expected to hit US cinemas in 2010. According to Ridley, the film will be a "fast-paced, exciting franchise, one we hope will be around for years to come." The original TV series followed the adventures of a group of Vietnam veterans, Hannibal, Face, Murdock, and B.A. Baracus, who escape from prison and become do-gooder mercenaries. The movie will be based on the premise of the TV show, although the Middle East is likely to replace Vietnam as the place where the soldiers served. Stephen J. Cannell and Jules Daley who co-created the television show are on board the project as co-producers with Joe Carnahan directing. "You can make a film that reflects on the real world without losing the great sense of fun and the velocity of action in a classic summer popcorn film," said Joe. So, who would you like to see cast as The A-Team? Edited January 29, 2009 by Kell
Chrissy
I don't really know what to make of this news! Ridley Scott and the A Team? I wouldn't have put those two together in a sentence! It will certainly make very interesting viewing.
Kell
My dream cast would be: John "Hannibal" Smith - George Clooney Templeton "Faceman" Peck - Brad Pitt H M "Howling Mad" Murdock - Jim Carrey Bosco "BA" Baracus - Michael Clarke Duncan Of course, if they're not available I'd like to see: John "Hannibal" Smith - Bruce Willis Templeton "Faceman" Peck - Rob Lowe / Robert Downey Jnr / Ben Browder / Katee Sackhoff (for a feminist twist!) H M "Howling Mad" Murdock - Adam Sandler / Ben Stiller Bosco "BA" Baracus - Dennis Haysbert / Ving Rhames Edited January 29, 2009 by Kell
Chrissy
Weirdly I saw Gorgeous George as Hannibal. He has the right amount of charisma I reckon! (and he's not too tough to look at either! )
