Savages by Shirley Conran and Compulsion by Shaun Hutson were my favourites, the latter as It was old peole getting back at the Yobs but i could never be as violent as they were Quote

Kell Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Pratchett's Discworld books are prtty much guaranteed to cheer me up. Also, Shirley Conran's Savages is a great uplifting book that makes me feel like I could accomplish anything (it's definitely on my Desert Island Books list as a survival guide - LOL!). Quote

Weave Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 'Ralph's Party' by Lisa Jewell, it always cheers me up, also 'Little Big Man' and 'The Return of Little Big Man' by Thomas Berger. I love the main character, Jack Crabb, the most memorable character for me in my book world Quote
GWA Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I agree that almost anything Pratchett leaves me with a smile, as does anything else that has decent amounts of heart and humanity: Douglas Adams, Hemmingway, Dos Passos. Humanity is the key, GWA. Quote
