  1. Thanks for passing on this sites info; only just found out that more Adrian Mole diaries are on the way! That sure brings back memories! GWA.
  2. For me reading is like breathing; it's not optional. GWA.
  3. In the past I've picked up books based on a familiarity in location but havent found it all that rewarding, so instead I
  4. In my mini library, discworld novels sit happily next to Hemmingway, and Keyes get along famously with Homer's Oddessy. Not sure if this makes my collection eclectic! GWA.
  5. For me it all depends on how the previous book has affected me. Sometimes when I've read a book that's so good and have had trouble parting with the characters, I need to give my imagination a bit of a rest, as otherwise I find myself drifting back, or comparing the current read with the previous one! GWA.
  6. I usually go in with a list that can be sourced from forums (such as this one) or from friends, reviews ect, but after picking up one book, I always make myself take the long way along each of the sections before picking up the next one to try and insert some 'organic' book searching into the process. GWA.
  7. I agree that almost anything Pratchett leaves me with a smile, as does anything else that has decent amounts of heart and humanity: Douglas Adams, Hemmingway, Dos Passos. Humanity is the key, GWA.
  8. Train tickets were surely designed to be bookmarks me thinks, or at least that's what they get recycled for in my house! GWA.
  9. Not sure if I've already mentioned this or not, but my favourite has to be "Miles the autobiography" which was all about the life and times of Miles Davis. I'm not even that big a fan of his music, but I was captivated with his passion and drive to create. GWA.
  10. For me when I'm really connected to the book I feel myself becoming anxious before it even ends, because I know that at some point soon I'll turn the last page and that will be it regardless of the ending! GWA.
  11. I've never seen an interview with Pratchett and never actually shared sniggers with fellow readers over his jokes, but the guile the man has in spinning a yarn that is not merely entertaining but also has something to say is miraculous. Definitely check out 'Mort' and 'Soul music' before its too late! GWA
  12. Almost anything by Kurt Vonnegut; partly because of the way it is written and partly because of the knowledge contained within. GWA
