Charm
Oh! I've read "P.S. I love you" too (before the movie came out). I thought it was pretty good. I want to read The Apprentice even more so now 'cause of the rating, haha. As u can see PS i love u is not my usual type of book i read but all my friends kept sayin 'go on go on, read it, its brill!' I'm glad i did! The film isnt supposed to be as good but then they never are, i havnt seen it. Have u read 'the surgeon'? if not u should really read it first as the apprentice kind of picks up where the surgeon left off, they all sort of carry on from each other so its best to read them in order. If u hav already read surgeon and liked it then u will like apprentice too, I bought a couple of the set at a time and lost days - had my head stuck in a book and got nothin done!! Charm
I've just finished reading Indelible by Karin Slaughter ... at last. I say at last not because I didn't like it, it turned out to be rather good in fact (thanks for the reassurance Magicstar;)). Its just it took a lot longer than her novels usually do to get into the story, or should I say stories. There were in fact two plots which ran at the same time and then blended together towards the end beautifully, with a few surprises thrown in! It was the usual bunch from Grant County but this book delved further into one character in particular, revealing a lot about their past. All in all it was a good read with a lot of twists and turns towards the end. I would recommend it if you like the crime thriller genre. I give it 6/10 just because it took a wee while to get into it
Charm
I pulled an all nighter last night, well til 3am, and finished Play Dead by Richard Montanari and yet again he didn't disappoint. This time it follows Jessica Balzano and Kevin Byrne, two homicide detectives in Philadelphia whom we met in the previous books, as they try to solve a cold case. The case soon turns into a current investigation and Montanari cleverly leads us to an exciting ending. He concentrates more on the murderer, his twisted imagination and background in this one and not so much on the lives of the detectives. Needless to say once I got in the 'zone' I was hooked again! 8/

Charm
I finished Keeping the Dead by Tess Gerritsen last night and I really enjoyed it, as is usual for Tess' books. Gonna keep up the Gerritsen vein and go on to The Bone Garden
Stephanie2008
I would recommend 'Where Rainbows End' by the same author too. Once you get used to the style its written in its engrossing! Yeah I agree. I think I like Where Rainbows End slightly more. I think PS I Love You was one of the first "adult" books I finished 3/4 years ago. I had never been into reading until about 4 years ago (apart from loving childrens books like the Hungary Caterpillar).
Maureen
I noticed that you list some of my favorite authors - Tess Gerristen, Karin Slaughter, Patricia Cornwall (Scarpetta). However I have never read any Richard Montanari - is he someone I should look out for?
Charm
I noticed that you list some of my favorite authors - Tess Gerristen, Karin Slaughter, Patricia Cornwall (Scarpetta). However I have never read any Richard Montanari - is he someone I should look out for? Oh my goodness yes! You are missing such a treat! The early ones kind of reminded me of The Surgeon and The Sinner by Tess Gerritsen. I really think you'd like them. Start of with The Rosary Girls and then I think I've listed them in order. Check out his website too for others but the ones I've read are better read in order, kind of like Rizolli series.

Two of which weren't even on my wishlist! I knew I should have stayed out of Waterstones - everytime I go in it costs me money
Charm
Just finished 'The Bone Garden' by Tess Gerritsen. It was a bit different to her usual stuff in that it was more of a period tale very much in the vein of Jack the Ripper I thought but still very good. A lot of good twists in it too. Now reading 'Faithless' by Karin Slaughter
Charm
It seems like ages since I've had to post on this thread ... well I suppose it is over a month! It has taken me this long to get through my latest read and that tells me I've lost my reading mojo I've just finished reading 'Faithless' by Karin Slaughter. Blurb courtesy of KarinSlaughter.com The victim was buried alive in the Georgia woods -- then killed in a horrifying fashion. When Sara Linton and Jeffrey Tolliver stumble upon the body, both become consumed with finding out who killed the pretty, impeccably dressed young woman. And for Sara and Jeffrey, a harrowing journey begins, one that will test their own turbulent relationship and draw dozens of lives into the case. This book was a bit of a doorstop, and in my opinion unnecessarily so. The author seems to me to spend too long focusing on the feelings of the main characters, which she does in her usual brilliant way, but not long enough on the storyline, until towards the end where it seems the whole plot is crammed into the last three chapters. I still enjoyed the book and felt both sympathy and frustration towards some of the characters, there just wasn't enough dead bodies for me! I have given it a 6/10 as I feel it wasn't as good as the first few of the series, although I'm not entirely sure this was due to the fact that I lost my mojo or that this book is what caused me to lose it! Charm
I keep forgetting to update this! I'm currently reading 'My Booky Wook' by Russell Brand. Its taking me ages. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the book, its actually pretty good so far, but I've just been quite busy coming up to xmas. Luckily its the sort of book where you can just put it down, then pick up a good while later and carry on without having to backtrack.
